The Hood of the Depths is put up for sale by Bargainer Statues after Link speaks to a sixth one. It costs 300 Poes.

It works by giving Link a "virtual" Heart Container, which is affected by gloom before Link's normal and temporary Heart Containers at the same rate. This virtual container refills even in the Depths in the same way normal Heart Containers do on the surface, but does not change how other gloom-disabled Heart Containers do or do not recharge. It is initially drained when the tunic is donned, and must charge before it helps to protect Link.

Enhancing armor requires Link to have unlocked as many Great Fairy Fountains as the desired star-level.
