The Ancient Core is a material found in Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity.

Appearances

Breath of the Wild

Ancient Cores can drop as a random loot from certain Guardians. Guardian Stalkers, Guardian Skywatchers, and Guardian Turrets will drop this material. The Guardian Scout III and Guardian Scout IV will rarely drop this item as well. Additionally, Link can purchase Ancient Cores from the traveling merchant Teli. While Teli normally only sells an Ancient Screw, Ancient Spring, and Ancient Gear, he has a rainy day special, where Link can purchase an Ancient Core for 130 rupees.

This material can be used in creating ancient equipment at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. Ancient Cores are used in the manufacturing of the Ancient Short Sword, Ancient Shield, Ancient Bladesaw, and Ancient Spear. It is also used to purchase all items from the Ancient Set of armor, such as the Ancient Helm, Ancient Cuirass, and Ancient Greaves. When Link upgrades the Ancient Set at the Great Fairy, he will need 5 Ancient Cores per item for the ★★★ upgrade. Link can also trade an Ancient Core with Kilton at his shop, the Fang and Bone, for 40 Mon each.

In the Slated for Upgrades sidequest, Link will need to acquire three Ancient Cores in order to upgrade his Stasis Rune. After bringing them to Purah, she will upgrade Link's Stasis Rune to Stasis+, which allows Link to use Stasis on enemies, freezing them momentarily.
