The Gold Skulltula is an enemy and a completely optional sidequest from both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. When defeated, a Gold Skulltula will drop a token proving that you killed it. These tokens are used to break the curse placed on various people living inside the House of Skulltulas and the two spider houses.
In both games, a Gold Skulltula will make a rustling noise when nearby. They act just like normal wall Skulltulas from Ocarina of Time except that they do not move from their spot on the wall. They also take twice as many hits to defeat as the normal Skulltula.
Ocarina of Time
"Gold Skulltula... |
There are a total of 100 Gold Skulltulas scattered throughout Hyrule. Their tokens will help to break the curse put on the family living in the House of Skulltulas. After defeat, Gold Skulltula Tokens can be collected with the Boomerang or Hookshot.

Rewards
After collecting a certain amount of Gold Skulltula Tokens, Link can visit the House of Skulltulas to break the curse put on various family members. These people will reward Link with a gift when spoke to. After collecting 10 tokens, Link is given an Adult Wallet. When 20 spiders are killed, the family will give Link the Stone of Agony. When Link collects 30 tokens, he gets the Giant's Wallet. When you have 40 killed Skulltulas, Link will be rewarded with Bombchus. At 50 he will get a Piece of Heart and at 100 Link will get unlimited rupees. By the time Link collects all 100 Gold Skulltulas, the free rupees will be almost worthless. Alternatively, you could continuously collect Gold Skulltula token number 78.
Unlimited Gold Skulltula Glitch
Once you have Bombs, the boomerang, and the Song of Storms, you can get unlimited Gold Skulltulas. There are a few simple steps. 1. Go to the lone tree inside Hyrule Castle. 2. Play the Song of Storms to make a hole appear in the ground. 3. Enter the hole. You will hear the scratching of a Skulltula. Behind one of the walls is a Gold Skulltula. Blow up the walls and you will find it. Kill the skulltula, but DON'T GET THE COIN. 4. Walk very close to the exit portal, but do not enter it. 5. Target the coin with the boomerang, and throw it. 6. Get into the exit portal before the boomerang returns. If you did this correctly, your Skulltula count will have gone up, and you can re-enter the hole to find that the Gold Skulltula is still there. Then you can repeat.
- This works on all versions of Ocarina of Time BUT Ocarina of Time 3D.
Majora's Mask
As with many enemies in Majora's Mask, Gold Skulltulas are identical to the ones in Ocarina of Time. The only difference between them is that Gold Skulltulas in Majora's Mask can only be found in spider houses. There are two of these houses found in the game; the Swamp Spider Houses, and the Ocean Spider House. Each of these have 30 Skulltulas each. After defeating all 30 Skulltulas in a spider house, the man at the entrance has been revived of his curse and will give you a gift. The item in question varies depending on what day you finish.
