The Gerudo Desert Walkthrough is a full guide for the Gerudo Desert region of the game, including all main quests that lead up to the entrance of the Gerudo Sanctum. After completing the Suthorn Ruins, Zelda has the option of traveling to either the Gerudo Desert or Jabul Waters regions and can complete the dungeons in those respective areas in either order.

Gerudo Desert

  • After exiting the Suthorn Forest to the north, and entering the Suthorn Prairie, Zelda can travel to the southwest and continue westward to reach the Gerudo Desert.
  • As soon as Zelda reaches the desert, it will give an overview of the area and will begin the main quest, A Rift in the Gerudo Desert.
  • Just to the west after first reaching the desert, Zelda will find a trio of Gerudo Soldiers who have been battling enemies that have come out of the rift. Continue further to the west to reach the Oasis and be sure to activate the Waypoint to allow for quick travel.
  • Navigate southwest of the Oasis to the massive Rift that is shown on the map.
  • Just south of the Rift, Tri will sense her friends, but they are stuck under the stand. She recommends talking to one of the nearby Gerudo Soldiers.
  • After talking to the soldier, Zelda will hear a scream from just to the right. Zelda can investigate and she'll find a Gerudo on the ground. A Tecuum appears which will split into two Dark Keese and a Dark Aruroda. Zelda can clear the enemies to meet with Dohna, captain of the Gerudo Warriors.
  • After Zelda informs Dohna that she wants to enter the Gerudo Sanctum, Dohna suggests heading to the Palace in Gerudo Town.

Gerudo Town

  • Travel to Gerudo Town, found at the west end of the Gerudo Desert.
  • Once Zelda arrives, had to the Gerudo Palace found at the north part of town.
  • Inside, speak with the Gerudo Chief Seera, Facette, and Captain Dohna. Dohna tries to convince the chief to allow Zelda to help out, but is met by much resistance from Facette.
  • After Dohna storms out, Zelda can leave the palace to find one of the Gerudo Guards mention that Dohna has traveled to the Oasis. She has asked Zelda to meet her there.
  • Warp to the Oasis to find Dohna speaking to a few Gerudo Guards. Dohna mentions that there are three smaller rifts in the area. They can be found within the Southern Oasis Ruins, Ancestor's Cave of Rest, and the Southern Gerudo Desert. Dohna trusts Zelda and hopes she can help mend these rifts. The three locations are then marked on Zelda's map.

Southern Oasis Ruins Rift

  • Just south of the Oasis, Zelda will find the Southern Oasis Ruins, just east of the massive rift. As Zelda approaches, she'll encounter two Gerudo guards sitting down, east of the large rift. The two guards are worn out from battling all the enemies that are appearing from the rift. As Zelda approaches, this will begin the Southern Oasis Ruins Rift main quest.
  • Two Tecuum will appear from the rift and float around. When Zelda draws near, they will attack, turning into a Dark Club Boarblin and two Dark ReDeads.
  • After defeating the enemies, the two Gerudo will thank Zelda and will then leave to go take a break. This will complete the quest.

Southern Gerudo Desert

  • Directly south of Gerudo Town, Zelda will find a small group of Gerudo soldiers. They are exhausted from all the battles that they have been in. Speaking to them begins the Southern Gerudo Desert Rift main quest.
  • Dohna appears and suggests that Zelda run over to the Smoothie Shop by the Oasis and get a Cactus Smoothie. She lets Zelda know that they can make one if Zelda gives them two Chilly Cacti. Dohna will then give Zelda the ingredients.
  • Warp and run over to the Oasis and create a Cactus Smoothie using two Chilly Cacti.
  • Return to the soldiers, south of Gerudo Town and give the Cactus Smoothie to them. The soldiers will get up and be refreshed, completing the quest.

Ancestor's Cave of Rest

  • Directly north of the massive rift, there is a large Sandstorm brewing within the Gerudo Desert. Zelda can still walk through this area. At the far north end of the map, Zelda will find a cave which is the Ancestor's Cave of Rest.
  • Inside the cave, Zelda can speak with the Gerudo here which begins the Ancestor's Cave of Rest Rift main quest. The Gerudo is concerned that the torches in the cave have gone out.
  • At the left side of the cave, Zelda can use Bind to move the massive boulder and head left a screen.
  • Inside this room, Zelda will find a pair of Holmills. She can use echoes such as a Sand Piranha to defeat them and learn the Holmill Echo. Zelda can then move the large boulder at the top of the room to find a ladder.
  • In the sand area, Zelda can use a Holmill to create a hole through the sand. If she uses it at the far left of the sand, it leads down to a treasure chest which contains a Golden Egg. From there she can make her way to the northeast end of the cave and head up the ladder.
  • Now on the other side of the Rift, Zelda can use an Ignizol to light the two torches.
  • The Gerudo here is one of the ancestors. Now that the torches have been lit, she tells Zelda to speak to her descendent. Zelda will appear on the other side of the rift and will be talking to the Gerudo. This will complete the quest.

Stilled Desert Temple Ruins

  • After completing all three smaller main quests, Zelda can return to Gerudo Town and the Gerudo Palace.
  • Facette still has strong opposition of allowing Zelda enter the Gerudo Sanctum, despite the plea of Dohna and the rest of the Gerudo that appear on Zelda's behalf.
  • Just before Chief Seera is going to make a decision, another Gerudo soldier enters the palace to inform the group that a rift the eastern part of the desert has opened up, consuming some of the warriors.
  • Warp over to the Oasis and then head to the northeast to find the large rift. Tri can open up a path which leads into the Stilled Desert Temple Ruins.
  • Zelda will need to find five groups of Tri's friends. Travel to the north and head down the ladder that is at the opening. Here there is a few Platbooms that will drop down when Zelda draws near. While it might not seem apparent, Zelda can use echoes, such as a Deku Baba Echo to defeat the Platboom and learn the Platboom Echo.
  • At far left end of the cave, Zelda can use Bind to move one of the platbooms. Then when there is only a single platboom, she can use it to reach some of Tri's friends on the ledge.
  • Exit the cave and head left and then down, where there is another set of Tri's friends on a higher platform. Zelda can use a variety of echoes to reach the purple blob, but it is most easily accessible by using the newly acquired Platboom Echo. After placing the Platboom, Zelda can quickly change to Swordfighter Form, so she can jump higher and land on the platboom.
  • Zelda can use a series of echoes and platbooms to make it to the far northwest corner of the area, where she will find Facette frozen in place, alone with more of Tri's friends.
  • From the northwest corner, Zelda can just just to the east and find more of Tri's friends.
  • Use a series of echoes, including Platboom and Old Bed Echoes to make your way to the northeast corner of the area. Use Bind to move the Boulder and find the last group of Tri's friends.
  • With the Rift now mended, we find that the Facette that was advising Chief Seera was an Echo. After the real Facette appears, Seera will defeat the impostor.

Cryptic Cavern

  • Return to the large rift at the south part of the desert. Just to the west, speak to the Gerudo guard here and enter the Cryptic Cavern.
  • Use an echo, such as tossing a Rock, to hit the switch and open the door.
  • Learn the Wind Cannon Echo from the Wind Cannons here and then use Bind on the Cannons to move them out of the way. Zelda can just drop them into the whole in order to get by and head up a screen.
  • In this room, Zelda can use an echo, such as a Darknut Echo to defeat the Pathblade and get the Pathblade Echo.
  • Clear the pathblades and hit the switch, causing a chest key to appear.
  • On the right side of the room, Zelda can defeat the Gibdo's and learn the Gibdo Echo. Open the chest to get a key and head back down a screen.
  • Clear the Aruroda and head through the door that opens on the left. Move the Wind Cannon and make your way to the west side of the room, using the small key on the locked door.
  • Climb down the ladder and make your way to the bottom of the room, clearing the Pathblades using a Pathblade of your own. Zelda can use an echo, such as a Platboom to reach the chest that contains a red rupee.
  • Clear the Pathblades and climb the ladders. There are mounds of sand that Zelda can clear, using a Wind Cannon Echo. For the sand pile that is higher up on the left. Zelda can place a Wind Cannon, stand to the right, use Bind, and then climb the ladder to get it to blow away the sand.
  • Use Echoes to reach the top of the room and then fight the Gibdo Lv. 2 in the next area.
  • After clearing the enemy, head right and use Bind to pull the plug out. This will cause sand to flow, revealing the entrance to the Gerudo Sanctum.
  • Exit to the left and head all the way out of the cave. With the entrance now accessible, enter the Gerudo Sanctum.
