This is a 16 bit remake of the Zelda 2 theme. Done by Nintendo.
Ripped from Nintendo's SNES Burn-in Test Program ROM, this is an official 16-bit version of the Zelda II title theme remade by Nintendo and used on the SNES Burn-in Test Cartridge used by Nintendo's service department.

This track is played during the actual burn-in test on the cartridge, and as far as I know, this track is unused in any other Nintendo game. It is a marvelous remake, made better by the fact it's official from Nintendo. Perhaps it was once used as a placeholder for the Zelda: ALttP title screen, much like Super Mario World used 16-bit remakes of SMB3 graphics as placeholders? We'll never know.

A video of the Test Cartridge itself (includes footage of the burn-in test that uses this track) itself in action can be found here:

Two tests (sound and burn in) feature this remade theme.

Nintendo made a hardware demo of the SFC and used a screen from Zelda 2 remade with Japanese characters for it.

Just some trivia you might not know.

I heard it before, it sounds strange, I feel that the soundfont is unfitting. At least that's not how I would imagine the old 8-bit version to sound in new consoles.

I'm already familiar with this, and yes, BS Zelda 2 could be a great idea. In the 90s, playable on Satellaview. Today, salvaged and playable on emulators, like Map 1, Map 2 and Ancient Stone Tablets. Sadly, it doesn't exist.
