Part 1 The Wind fish
The Zelda games Link's awakening 1993 and Majora's Mask 2000 had big shoots to fill. Link to the Past 1991 and Ocarina of Time 1998 are seen by many in the fandom to be the best the series has to offer. These games were so revolutionary that the only place left to go was somewhere completely different. Both LA and MM are not set in Hyrule as Link like the games before them. Both did not feacher the series main antagonist Ganon. Zelda and the Triforce are only referenced in both games. For these reasons I believe the two games share more in common than most zelda fans give credit too.
In Link's Awakening it is revealed that Koholint island is in a pocket dimension created by the dream of a God-like being known as Windfish. The Windfish aids Link in the form of an owl and owls stachues so that the Link can play the Ballad of the Windfish and defeat the Nightmare that has kept the Windfish asleep.
The Land of Termina does not have an explanation. All that is known is that it is not in the same universe as Hyrule. I believe that Termina is a pocket dimension created by The Windfish which more resembles a whale or a similar being. The Ocean King of Phantom Hourglass 2007 Is another Whale god that can create pocket universes. The Ocean king also has an effect on time as all of PH took place in the span of a couple of minutes and the phantom hourglass created by link can stop time. revealed at the end the ocean king's true form seems to be a sperm whale. LA and MM take place in different timelines so it is possible it could be the same Windfish. The oceanking can also change his form into Oshus a Human
An unnamed and unexplained owl also helps link twince in Majora's Mask. The first time he taught the hero the song of soaring and the second time he aided Link in finding the Lens of Truth. Link can find owl stachues in
Termina. He can activate them with his sword and teleport to them with the Song of Soaring. The Ballad of the Windfish returns in Majora's mask. The songs are different but the name is the same. This shows that Windfish is at least a thing in Majora's mask.
The song is composed by Toto. Toto is of the Zora race. The Zora are fish people mostly found in Great Bay. The song was originally performed by the first generation of the Indie go gos. The singer of the new Indie go gos eggs are the key to unlocking the Great bay temple. The great bay temple has technology far beyond what the rest of the game shows.
The great bay temple is said to hold great treasure according to the pirates. The pirates may mean the ice arrows. The temple has become cursed by Skull kid. This has caused the ocean to become merkey. When inside the temple you will find water being moved and controlled by pipes. The temple is thought to actually be a water filtration plant that is cleaning the ocean. Because of the curse it can not work and the ocean is becoming polluted because of it.
On the outside the temple is in the shape of a giant fish. It is a temple but what is being worshiped? The Windfish is a possible choice as there are not a lot of other giant fish in the Zelda series and the Windfish has already been named in the game. I believe the temple serves as both a water filtration plant and a place where the Windfish was once worshiped.
Owl statues are all over Ternima. These statues could have been placed by people who worshiped or at least knew of the Windfish’s owl form. These owl statues are also a way the unnamed owl communicates with Link just like in LA.
Long before the game a Technology advanced civilization ruled over termina. They were made up of the Deku, Gorons, Zora, and the people of Ikona. All that remains of this civilization is the song of sorting tablet, owl stachues and great bay temple. It seems like over time the advanced technology that was used to worship the Windfish and create the great bay temple was lost. The races Zora, Deku, Goron and humans left This led into a new power being found.
Another possible form of the Windfish could be another unnamed being. The Giant Turtle seems to be aware of everything in Termina even though he was asleep until awakened by Link. He knows about Link's quest and the state of the sea. Watching everything while he sleeps seems to fit in with the Windfish. The Giant Turtle is also the only one who has actress to The great Bay temple
Part 2 The Triforce
Somehow it appears The Ikana Royal family learned of the Triforce. This came from the Windfish most likely telling them. The royal family wanted the Triforce and plant to break out of the Windfish’s world. Hyrule’s Shield shows Link's Loftwing and the triforce. Termina’s shield shows the owl guarding the Tricorce.
Seeking the power the royal family created Stone Tower to escape their world. Garos were sent from an enemy nation to investigate Stone tower. This started a war. Only The Garo Master seemed to enter Stone Tower. His ghost is one of the bosses of the dungeon. The royal family created the temple to be flipped upside down by the Light arrows. When upside down the sky portal is activated. This sky portal is where the Garo master appears from when right side up. There is also a hidden sky portal above the first room of the dungeon.
When the temple is upside down Link enters the portal and is taken to another world. I believe Twinmold was created to imprison the Giant by Skull Kid. Twinmold was not the original being of the other world. The Terminans didn't make it to where they wanted to go instead of finding the Triforce. They still found power in whatever Majora’s mask was. This thing founded his way into The Windfish when the portal was opened.
Part 2.5
During the war against the Garos Ikana solders seted up a hideout by the beach. Inside the hideout was a treasure that was guarded. This hideout was cursed with the Gold skulltulas possibly by the Garos as an attempt to drive the soldiers out so the Garos could find the treasure. The soldiers are still there guarding the treasure
Part 3 Nightmare and Bellum
In Link’s awakening The main villain of the game was Nightmare. Nightmare wanted the Winfish to continue sleeping so that his world does not disappear. Nightmare uses the dream world to gain power from the Windfish. In its final form the Nightmare takes the form of a one eyed tentacled monster.
In Phantom Hourglass the Ocean king faces a similar demon. Bellum. Bellum is a squid-like demon with tentacles and one central eye. Bellum feeds off of the Lifeforce of the Ocean king. Due to the split timeline it is possible the Windfish and the Ocean king are the same being. The same could be said about Nightmare, Bellum and even Majora's mask. The Windfish and the Ocean king create and Bellum and Nightmare consume. In real life sperm Whales are the natural predator of Giant Squids.
Majora’s mask and Bellum have similar colored eyes. Also share the power of possession like when Majora possesses the moon and Skull kid and Bellum possesses the ghost ship and Limback. The only thing Bellum and Majora’s mask are unable to control is time. The weakness of time is used to defeat Majora's mask and Bellum. When the Windfish or Ocean king are facing their enemy Link is taken to their world to save them.It is possible the same happened and the hero of time was guided to Termina as well. Prohapes before even the hero of time Another hero was called.
Part 4 Fierce Deity
At the end of the game Majora’s mask gives you the Fierce Deity mask. This mask shares a resemblance to Link. This mask is created from all the masks and happiness inside them. After giving away your mask to the moon children Majora’s mask combines them into the Fierce Deity mask. It is possible that Majora’s mask based this mask on the one who defeated him in the past. Before the hero of time the Windfish called upon another hero to defeat Majora’s mask. Since The Windfish and Ocean king only takes heroes who have already saved the world the only two heroes it could be are the Hero of Minish and Hero of the Sky. This hero defeated the demon and soon after the demon was sealed into a mask using the song of healing. The mask was then used by the anigent tribe.
Part 5 Majora’s Mask
The anigent tribe spoken of by The Happy Mask Salesman used Majora’s mask for hexing rituals. Soon Majora’s mask became worshiped by the people of Termina. When he became the new god a Stone tower temple was created. While Stone Tower was created to gain the Triforce, the Temple was created to worship Majora’s mask. Woodfall Temple and Snowhead Temple were created soon after to worship Majora’s mask. Blocks, floor switches, ruins, and even crystal switches had the mask put on him.
Majora’s mask became relateted to the Sun. The light arrows the Mirror Shield used light throw out his temple. Sun blocks and Sun switches so the Sun with a face on it. Fierce Deity has a Moon on is armor and is also found on the moon. The sun and moon mask used for the wedding could have originated from Majora's mask and the Fierce Deity mask.
In the Final boss fight Majora's mask is resting in what appears to be a sun with the mask in the center before the fight. During the fight the mask can shoot fire lasers from its eyes while its tentacles shoot out like sun rays
The era of Majora’s mask brought the tradition of the mask we see in the game. Fearing that Majora was growing too powerful. Termina also found their new idles, the Four Giants. Inspired by the Giants the Giants mask and put in Stone tower temple. Majora’s Mask was sealed in darkness but his temples and his face still haunt Termina.
Part 6 The Happy Mask Salesman
The hero left Termina leaving the defeated demon. The anigent tribe sealed the demon in a mask meant to resent the sun. They used the mask for hexing rituals and soon it grew too powerful. The mask is not named Majora. It is named after the one who owns it. The happy mask Salesman owns the mask. The happy mask salesman is Majora. This is why he is the only one left who knows of the mask, its origins and its power. Majora was part of the anigent tribe.
He was the one who used the mask. That is why the moon children resemble the mask salesman. That is why you never fight Majora instead you fight the mask, Major’s Incarnation, and Majora’s Wrath. Majora left a part of himself in the mask. That is why he is looking for it. That is also why he fears the power of the mask. Majora used it and wore it.
Part 7 The Four Giants
The four words became one again as the giants protected the people. The Four Giants befriend skull kid and when the giants left to sleep skull kid was hurt. Skull kid began to cause issues for the people of Termina so the giants were called. Skull kid left back to Hyrule where he came from after the Giants threatened to tear him apart.
The Ikana royal family closed the door to Stone tower so the kingdom fell to ruin. The valley became an undead wasteland.
The carnival of time was created to worship the giants. The four temples are now used to worship the giants instead of the Windfish or mask. The mask tradition that started with majora, s mask was adopted into the festival. The people wore mask to resemble the giants. I believe the four boss mask were created during the carnival of time to represent the giants. When Skull kid returned he had majora's mask. The skull kid was up to his old tricks but now with the power of the mask. Skull kid got the boss mask and he cursed them to seal the giants in them.
Part 8 pre game
Skull kid returns and befriends Tatal and Tale two fairies. He soon finds the Happy Mask Salesman and steals the mask. The mask uses its tentacles to attach itself to Skull kid. Skull kid discovers that the four worlds have separated and begins playing tricks. He uses the boss mask to curse the giants and the temples.
Skull kid leaves Termina. In the lost woods he finds Link searching for Navi from the previous game. Link has never traveled this far in the lost woods and when the Skull kid steals his ocarina and horse it starts his new adventure.
Part 9 Under Clock Town
The first area of the game you find are the caves. These caves appear to have been made by the Deku. They have working doors a treasure chest with Deku nuts inside and Deku flowers. The only thing in here is a dead tree stump. This tree stump is said to be the Duku butler's son. He was killed by Skull kid and his soul was used to curse Link.
It appears long before clock town the Deku ruled the area. They seemed to have been driven out by the humans to the swamp. This could be why the four words split apart as humans began to drive them back. Yet the Deku know that underground is their lost kingdom. The Deku butler's son went to explore the caves. It seems all that is left of the Deku kingdom is underground. The caves were not built by humans.
In Clock town some Deku flowers remain as all that is left of the kingdom above ground. In East Clock town you can enter a fenced off hole. Inside is a Deku flower mini game led by two business scrubs. I do not think they built the room as it seems just as old as the caves. I believe they found it.
Part 10 Remains of the Windfish era
The Southern Swamp is home to monkeys, witches, and the Deku kingdom. Before the game Skull kid poisoned the swamp leading the Deku princess and her monkey friend to investigate the Woodfall temple. This temple sits in the core of Death Mountain.Woodfall temple was created long ago to worship Majora's Mask as it is on blocks and floor switches inside the dungeon. It seems the Deku began to use the temple to worship the southern Giant who rested in the temple until it was cursed.
The swamp spider house hides the Mask of Truth. This house seemed to be a trap for the greedy. The house is golden with fancy carpet. The house is cursed by the gold skulltulas. One unlucky man found the mask and when he put it on he was cursed. Link broke the curse by killing all thirty gold skulltulas.
The Mask of Truth allows Link to communicate with the Gossip Stones. I believe these stones, the spider house and the mask were made during the time people worshipped the Windfish. The Gossip Stones are all over the place like the Owl statues. The spider house is not too far from the Song of Soaring tablet. This tablet is where you first meet the owl.
The second time you meet the owl he leads you to a cave by the Goron village far off away from land. Inside this Cave you find the lens of Truth. I believe this was also from the Windfish era as the Windfish himself leads you to it.

The people of Termina begin to worship the Windfish. Owl statues, Song of soaring tablet spider house Mask of Truth, lens of Truth, Gossip stones and Great Bay Temple
The Triforce era 1000 - 1500 ?
Stone tower is created to find the Triforce. Garos invade starting a war. The sky portal is opened leading a Bellum like demon to enter Termina.
The First Hero era 1500 ?
The first chosen hero by the Windfish defeats the demon and leaves. He is later tributed in the Fierce Deity mask
The Majora's Mask era 1500 - 2000 ?
Majora( Happy Mask Salesman) and the ancient tribe trap the defeated demon inside a mask. They use this mask for hexing rituals. Stone Sower temple, Woodfall temple, and Snowhead temple are created to worship the power of the mask. Fearing the power of the mask the ancient ones sealed it away.
The Four Giants era 2000 - 3000 ?
The Four Giants bring the four worlds together for a time of peace. The temples are then used to worship The Four Giants. The giants rest causing Skull kid to cause havoc threw out Termina. The Giants return and Skull kid returns to hyrule. The carnival of time is created along with the boss mask. The doors to Stone Tower were closed as the Garo war finally ended. Ikana was in an undead stalemate after around 1000 years of war.
The Modern era 3000 - 3100 ?
The clock town created around the clock tower drives out the Deku. The four words split apart again. The Happy Mask Salesman gets back his mask but Skull kid steals it. He curses the Giants and temples and opens the door to Stone Tower. He finally runs into Link.
Part 12 Dawn of a new day
The Moon is gone, replaced by a rainbow.
Skull kid realizes the giants never forgot him. The power left the mask as claimed by the Happy mask Salesman as he vanishes into air. Link celebrates and plays for the indie go gos. Finally Link and Skull Kid return to Hyrule. In the lost woods they draw on a stump as a reminder of there friendship.

It seems the Deku began to use the temple to worship the southern Giant who rested in the temple until it was cursed.
The swamp spider house hides the Mask of Truth. This house seemed to be a trap for the greedy. The house is golden with fancy carpet. The house is cursed by the gold skulltulas. One unlucky man found the mask and when he put it on he was cursed. Link broke the curse by killing all thirty gold skulltulas.
The Mask of Truth allows Link to communicate with the Gossip Stones. I believe these stones, the spider house and the mask were made during the time people worshipped the Windfish. The Gossip Stones are all over the place like the Owl statues. The spider house is not too far from the Song of Soaring tablet. This tablet is where you first meet the owl.
The second time you meet the owl he leads you to a cave by the Goron village far off away from land. Inside this Cave you find the lens of Truth. I believe this was also from the Windfish era as the Windfish himself leads you to it.

The Windfish era 0 - 1000 ?
The people of Termina begin to worship the Windfish. Owl statues, Song of soaring tablet spider house Mask of Truth, lens of Truth, Gossip stones and Great Bay Temple
The Triforce era 1000 - 1500 ?
Stone tower is created to find the Triforce. Garos invade starting a war. The sky portal is opened leading a Bellum like demon to enter Termina.
The First Hero era 1500 ?
The first chosen hero by the Windfish defeats the demon and leaves. He is later tributed in the Fierce Deity mask
The Majora's Mask era 1500 - 2000 ?
Majora( Happy Mask Salesman) and the ancient tribe trap the defeated demon inside a mask. They use this mask for hexing rituals. Stone Sower temple, Woodfall temple, and Snowhead temple are created to worship the power of the mask. Fearing the power of the mask the ancient ones sealed it away.
The Four Giants era 2000 - 3000 ?
The Four Giants bring the four worlds together for a time of peace. The temples are then used to worship The Four Giants. The giants rest causing Skull kid to cause havoc threw out Termina. The Giants return and Skull kid returns to hyrule. The carnival of time is created along with the boss mask. The doors to Stone Tower were closed as the Garo war finally ended. Ikana was in an undead stalemate after around 1000 years of war.
The Modern era 3000 - 3100 ?
The clock town created around the clock tower drives out the Deku. The four words split apart again. The Happy Mask Salesman gets back his mask but Skull kid steals it. He curses the Giants and temples and opens the door to Stone Tower. He finally runs into Link.
Part 12 Dawn of a new day
The Moon is gone, replaced by a rainbow.
Skull kid realizes the giants never forgot him. The power left the mask as claimed by the Happy mask Salesman as he vanishes into air. Link celebrates and plays for the indie go gos. Finally Link and Skull Kid return to Hyrule. In the lost woods they draw on a stump as a reminder of there friendship.
