Modern interpretations of classical style (baroque) music.

Chasing Sheep Is Best Left to Shepherds

This piece has been modified a lot.

Originally it's melodic theme from the Prelude to Act III, Scene 2 of English composer Henry Purcell’s 1691 opera King Arthur. Michael Nyman's Chasing Sheep Is Best Left to Shepherds from score the score for the 1982 film The Draughtsman's Contract is the video shared here. Nyman took his own interpretation of Purcell's work and though different, it's very good. In 2013 the Pet Shop Boys took Purcell's sheet music and Nyman's music added in their own flair and words and made a song called Love Is a Bourgeois Construct which I will share here too.

Love Is a Bourgeois Construct

There is a second piece from The Draughtsman's Contract worth listening to. It's amazing.
