A lot of alt-rock fans outright dismiss Simple Plan as bottom of the barrel pop-punk fodder, they seem to misunderstand that the band has never tried to pretend they are more than that. While all are very talented musicians, they are very much a band for the sake of being a band. None of their music is deep or thought provoking, but the audience they make music for never needed that. I remember getting really into them back in high school and I fell in love with how straight forward their music was, I think that is the strength of a lot of music in the subgenre of pop-punk and Simple Plan play into that knowingly. "Save You" is a wonderful example of this, a simple raw emotional response to being powerless to help someone you love. It doesn't need to be more than this.
