Rachel creeped cautiously out of the treeline. Wal-Mart. Just what she needed. She learned quickly that hunting wasn't as easy as she imagined it would be, and was running out of food.
She approached the back of the building when she heard noises. The muttering of several human voices.
She stopped, considering what to do. These would be the first people she encountered since the whole plague thing. If she went to them, would they welcome her into their group? Or would they kill her on sight and take what she had?
She was going to risk a meeting, and walked around the side of the building. As she went, she made note of where doors were, checking to see which were unlocked. If the humans were hostile, she had no doubt that she could make her escape into one of the doors. All she'd have to do was throw her bag at whoever seemed the biggest threat to distract them while she ran into the store, where she could hide amongst the multitude of aisles and products until her pursuers decided to pass on.
She rounded the corner, seeing the group. She quickly targeted the woman with the machine gun as the largest threat. Non-threatening, she approached them, but still kept some distance.
"They sure are," she answered the woman, who had just said that people where too jumpy these days. "But for good reason, I think. I'm Rachel, by the way...are you guys...a team?"
