This is one of the reasons I think that WW follows the Child Storyline. He probably hitched a ride with Link on his way back to Hyrule.

you can completely shoot me down on this one but my theory has a connection to PH, SPOILER**: in the end of PH link is told by "Oshus" that he has to return to his world so I think that Link and Tetra were actually in Termina throughout that game. this could explain how tingle got to Hyrule. Link is sent to Termina when he hits the ghost ship so my theory is that Tingle goes to the Ghost ship in search of the "Treasure" but is captured. when he is captured the poof magic that sent Link to Termina sends Tingle to Hyrule where he escapes the ghost ship and proceeded to scam link's a** off throughout WW.

Well in Termina everyone there looks exactly like their counterparts from Hyrule no? So it stands to reason there was a Tingle in Hyrule during OoT but we just never see him in game, and this would be his descendant. jmho

Whos to say that the Tingle spin-off game isnt canon? That would be the only explanation to why he would be in The Great Sea, 100 years later. I mean its the closest thing we have and it makes perfect since.. Nintendo probably released it specifically as the backround of the character, I mean dont tell me he gets reincarnated like Link and Zelda, because there is no reason for him to keep getting reborn.. like the latter two.

I see no reason why Freshly Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland should not be taken as Canon.
