Tears of the Kingdom Throwing

In Zelda tears of the Kingdom you are suppose to be able to select a material press R to select and throw that item. However, my game is only allowing me to throw weapons? Is anyone else having this issue. Do you know how to solve it? Thank you for the help!

You need to hold down R and then press the up button under the left joystick, that will open your material menu.
