hardcore games: demon soul, everquest, WoW (at least in vanilla days) and when you play a game competivly such as ranked League of legends matches
casual: party games, dance games, singing games, games aimed at younger children (not all of them though)
There is a difference but the thing is in the end, they are ALL games to be played and enjoyed =]
Hardcore gamer: dedication to a game, its serious business to them, easily 5+hours a day gaming
casual gamer: Plays games, ranging from a few times a week to a couple of hours a day, doesnt take the game overly serious, doesnt mean that the casual gamer is not good at gaming, it just means they wont set fire to their team mates house if they lose
