Saria and Hestu, same character?

This theory needs good reasoning for the personality and name change.

Also, with there being a location named after her, in the lost woods, it would suggest that she has passed away.
Or maybe the koroks are comemarating her by naming the lake after her unaware of the fact she became Hestu.

That would work. So many seem to have forgotten things, which I like, that there is truths that are shrouded in the mists of the past.

For the personality change Saria could be almost in hiding after realizing that a Link too was in this new Hyrule.
Or maybe she just doesn't want any trouble after all her time being the sage of forest in OOT.

Sounds like we are getting into some Doctor Who territory here. Not the same person, yet is.

Though, even with the idea that Saria could be hiding, it doesn't match Hestu's personality. Saria, who ever she would be pretending to be, would be wise, with ages of knowledge. And, if the reason for her deception is Link, she would likely keep her distance, physically and emotionally. Hestu, on the other hand, is very interested in Link's aid, and seems very childish (young, naive, and not very knowledgeable).

Nothing against anyone who wants to believe they are the same, but there simply isn't enough here for me, and what is here, is contradictory to the idea. New sage? Sure. I could even go with a reincarnation connection, seeing as how young Hestu acts. But not the literal same person.

I absolutely don't think Hestu and Saria are the same. Their personalities couldn't be more different and I doubt Hestu is a sage. If he were one it would've been mentioned one way or another
They did turn Rauru from a monk of Light to a Zonai.

Other than their name it's actually unknown if they're the same. It's possible Rauru from OoT is named after the Zonai Rauru
Could it be reincarnation thing? If so Rauru moved up from Hylian to Zonai!

Edit: I realize there is a lot of time travel and I could be wrong. I wish OoT was the only time travel Zelda game, time travel causes too many ripples.

Here is something I just remembered. During the events of Wind Waker the Kokiri became the Koroks. But what about Saria.

I think Saria became Hestu because A, they both play instruments B, maybe plot significance in OOT means their physically larger as a Korok.

:):):)
I honestly don't believe this. It's already proven in Wind Waker as well that Kokori have limited lifespans, due to the death of the sage at the Earth Temple. While it could be true, due to the Darunia's appearance in the credits, despite the implied death of the Fire Temple. However, spirits of important figures in Breath of the Wild that are spirits, usually have the teal Aura and teal smoke around them. So I don't really see how it could be the case. Despite that, I always thought of Hestu as a male, don't know why.
