Smash Bros Sakurai announces he has been working on a new game for 2 years now

Yes Sakurai has announced that he is working on a new smash bros game.

In the final of his 520 youtube video series he announced that he has been working on a new game for 2 years now. The start of the games development was April 2022 and is still on going.

It is true I watched both the English and the Japanese versions and yeah he said it both times. However I think he wanted to reveal more but couldn’t because of Nintendo.

I've seen no mention of the game being smash bros, cite a source

I just watched his video. He literally never mentions it being Smash.

In 2021 he gave an interview saying he felt like Smash had reached its peak on fighters and content, and you're telling me he simply changed his mind less than six months after the last character got added? He's likely burned out and wanting a break from the franchise, he was literally taking IV drip while working on it so you can imagine it took quite the toll on his health.

So even if we speculate, it's a lot more likely this title is the unrelated project (likely a minor game from Sora ltd) that he had already mentioned to be working on back in March 2022. So this isn't exactly news either.

It makes sense that Sakurai is working on something new presumably for Nintendo's next system. I'd like to see him try his hand at a brand new IP. He's already done a lot with Kirby and Smash Bros. and shown he can revive a dead IP with Kid Icarus Uprising. Now I want to see him concote something that's never been seen before.
