This is my very first post. So go easy on me.

The Legend of Zelda: Rise of the Darkness

This would be the story of the rise of the Dark Interlopers and the resulting Hyrulean Civil War:

- Immediately prior to the events within the game, a large group of dark magicians (the Dark Interlopers) have made their way into the Sacred Realm where they are attempting to retrieve the Triforce.

- The many tribes of the “land of Hyrule” all realize they have a stake in these events. So on their own, each tribe attempts to interfere with the Dark Interlopers. The initial provocation between the tribes occurs when the leadership council of the Gerudo tribe (a group of 10 Gerudo women at this time) call for an preemptive attack on a small army of Hylian warriors who have wondered into the Desert uninvited in search of a way into the Sacred Realm (which is where they believe an entrance can be found).

- This attack leads the King of Hyrule to request help from the Kokiri, Zora, and Goron tribes. They unfortunately decline this request, because they want to maintain all of their resources for a counter-assault against the Dark Interlopers.

- This action greatly angers the King of Hyrule, who then requests the support of all able-bodied Hylian men to mount a multiple campaign against all the tribes.

- This request for soldiers brings us to a young Link’s father preparing for war. Link’s family resides in a small village on the very edge of land controlled by the King of Hyrule. Link fights with his father about joining the fight as well, but he is much too young. Link watches his father march off to war, but in his mind he wants to be there as well to help and protect his father.

- Fast forward to a few years in the future…the war between the tribes has been nonstop. Each tribe battling against the others. In the meantime, the young Link has grown to be a well trained young adult male. He has spent almost every day since his father went to war training and practicing with a sword and shield. He feels like he is ready to join the fight, but his mother will not allow it, until…..one day a messenger arrives on horseback with a letter informing Link and his mother that his father has been killed in battle.

- This information springboards Link’s journey. His emotion over the loss of his father forces him to leave home without the good wishes of his mother. He is not sure where he is heading, but he knows he must head towards the castle.

- On his way to fight, Link sees a young woman in tattered robes slowly creeping along the banks of a small river around the outskirts of Castle Town. He approaches her and surprises her with his presence. We come to find out that this young woman is actually Princess Zelda, and she is attempting to escape from the castle. She confides in Link, and tells him that she is trying to protect her father and his kingdom. She tells him that she is a valuable target for the other tribes. They will make attempts to kidnap her so as to have leverage and power over her father during this war. She feels that if she can remove herself from the situation and hideout for awhile that she is protecting the kingdom.

- Link must decide what to do…should he bring her back to the King (it might give him a high place in the army he wants to join), should he help Zelda hide (he could take her to his village, but he would not be able to live again if he saw his mother’s sad and abandoned face), or should he let her be on her own. However, before he can decide what to do, he sees an explosion off in the distance, inside the borders of Castle Town. At the same time, he sees a gang of Gerudo soldier women galloping on horseback away from the site of the explosion and hurtling bombs behind them as they make their escape.

- The gang heads their way. Link and Zelda attempt to hide, but are spotted by the leader of the gang. The gang surrounds them and pulls out their weapons to kill them. However, right before they can do that, the leader spots the crest of the Royal family poking out from underneath Zelda’s robes. Her eyes light up and she realizes who this is, and so she orders the others to quickly grab her and get back to their home…..she specifically states, “He’ll be extremely pleased with us.”

- Link makes an attempt to stop them, but is easily cast off as Zelda is taken away to the Gerudo’s desert home. Link is amazed at the events that have taken place and quickly makes his way to the Castle. When he arrives he tries to plead his case to the guards, but he is not allowed to enter. He then finds a way to sneak into the castle and slowly makes his way to the King’s private quarters where the King is currently residing. Before the King can call guards, Link tells him of what has happened. After hearing the news the King is devastated, but it strengthens his will, and he proclaims Link as his official scout. Link is given the job to infiltrate the Gerudo tribe and bring back Zelda.

- Link begins his quest. He heads towards the desert and is able to get into the Gerudos’ palace and defeat all enemies in his path. Along the way through the desert and palace, it is slowly revealed to him that the entrance to the Sacred Realm does indeed reside somewhere in the desert. However, he also learns that it will take the power of “7” to control access to the realm. He does not know what this “7” signifies at this time. The climax in the Gerudo palace has Link defeating a great beast, but upon the beasts demise, he learns that the beast is only an illusion. It was actually a game of sorts, and this “game” was being controlled by a never before seen new leader of the Gerudos. This leader presents himself, and when Link sees him he realizes that this leader is only a child. A mischievous child that goes by the name Ganondorf. Link does not understand at first, but soon learns that only one male is born every 100 years and this male becomes the leader of the tribe.

- Child Ganondorf is so enamored and envious of Link’s ability to defeat his beast that he pledges his allegiance to Link and his King. He promises to help with their cause and join them as an ally. He also reveals to Link the specifics behind the “7” that is required to control the Sacred Realm. Link learns that there are 7 wisemen/sages who must be brought together from across the land. Ganondorf reveals that there is a very old woman in his tribe, who seems to have this type of power. Link meets her and comes to understand that she is one of the 7 sages.

- After these events, Link returns with Zelda to the King of Hyrule. Link tells the King what has happened and what Child Ganondorf has told him about the sages. The King thanks Link for what he has done, and then gives him another mission of finding these sages and uniting them to defeat the Dark Interlopers.

- Link comes to learn that each of the tribes has their own sage. So he makes his way through the lands of the Kokiri, Zora, and Gorons. After proving his worth in those lands (defeating temples/dungeons and great beasts) he gains the trust, admiration, and support of those tribes and their sages.

- After incorporating the first 4 sages, Link comes to learn from Zelda that there is another tribe who is currently in hiding. Zelda confesses that this other tribe is extremely loyal to the Royal family, however, they are related to the Dark Interlopers who are currently causing chaos across the land. This tribe broke off from the Dark Interlopers faction at some point in the past when these plans began resonating amongst their people. If they were to come out of hiding they would likely be associated with the Dark Interlopers and attacked from those less informed.

- Link finds this hidden tribe and breaks into their fortress where he is attacked by their people. It’s not until he is able to prove his might to the ruler of this tribe does he come to learn that they are the Sheikah. He tells them of his relationship to Zelda and the King, and what has happened up to this point. They grant him their friendship, support, and the 5th sage. The Sheikah ruler also tells him about a power that must be used in the Sacred Realm to defeat their dark half (Interlopers). It is a power that has been hidden away for many years and can be found in a place called the Temple of Time.

- Link goes there and discovers the Master Sword. Upon its release from the pedestal, a being reveals himself. Link learns that this person is the 6th sage, the Sage of Light.

- Link returns to the King of Hyrule and tells him of what has happened. At this point Link and Zelda are lost and confused, because they do not know where to find the last sage. The King stands up and reluctantly proclaims that Zelda is in fact the 7th and last sage. Zelda is flabbergasted, but gladly takes up her responsibility.

- At this point the 7 sages come together in a great palace hidden in the desert and open up a portal to the Sacred Realm. There at this moment are Link and the leaders of all the tribes, including Child Ganondorf, who watches this event with amazement. It is obvious that his mind begins to ponder what all this could mean for him. He senses the great power that the portal reveals. At this time Link enters the Sacred Realm, ready to begin the next part of his quest, but unbeknownst to him or anybody else, Child Ganondorf has also snuck into the Sacred Realm.

- Inside the Sacred Realm, the Dark Interlopers have created a great and powerful land and society of their own. However, the dark magic that has been controlling this land has slowly begun mutating it and its people. Within this realm Link can still communicate with Zelda and the other sages through a series of stones they gave him, and they become his guide while amongst the Dark Interlopers.

- Link learns that there are 3 Dark Interlopers that create a high council for ruling the land. They have each taken one piece of the triforce for themselves and scattered themselves far apart so that no single high councilman could control the other two and gain complete control. It is Links quest to go to each of these high councilmen, defeat them, and obtain their piece of the triforce.

- So Link travels throughout the land of the Sacred Realm going to each palace/temple containing a piece of the triforce. He first travels to the palace containing the Triforce of Courage. Upon defeating the great Dark Interloper controlling that piece, he is blasted with the essence of the Triforce and gains the power within. His hand pulsates with that great symbol.

- Next, Link travels to the palace containing the Triforce of Power. During the final battle with that ruler, the Dark Interloper is at one point distracted and out of the corner of his eye he sees movement. At that time it is revealed that Child Ganondorf is hiding behind a large column. The Dark Interloper attempts to kill Child Ganondorf, but Link intercedes and must protect him while also defeating the Dark Interloper at the same time. Upon his defeat Child Ganondorf runs ahead in an attempt to help Link, but is blasted with the essence of the Triforce in a similar manner that Link was previously. Child Ganondorf feels the power that is coursing through his veins, and he likes it. We come to learn that Ganondorf has been following Link this entire time, staying in the shadows, and watching his every move. Link forces Child Ganondorf to leave the Sacred Realm at this time and return to his tribe.

- Finally, Link goes the final palace, which contains the Triforce of Wisdom. This final Dark Interloper is much stronger than the previous two, because he has been able to absorb a lot of the energy that the other two left behind after they were defeated. However, Link is able to defeat this final ruler and regain the Triforce of Wisdom.

- Link returns to the land of Hyrule, where he hands over this last piece of triforce to Princess Zelda. Zelda thanks him, and the sages come together to seal up the Sacred Realm and any remaining Dark Interlopers. Under the care of the sages, the land becomes peaceful and unified.
