New Game Brainstorm

I was sitting around and this idea for a Zelda game came to me. I had to share it with the community.

Basically it's more of a Scrolls or Souls -like action adventure RPG set in the Zelda universe.

There are three classes or races to choose from (either male or female):

the first is Hylian which in my take on the series would be closer to humans and obviously Link throughout the series, his many designs, would be a template for this ranger type character. Very much a tool and strategy based character with experience in dungeon crawling and finding good loot. Some sword skills but not a heavy brawler. This character would also be able to easily handle mounts for world traversal.

the second is Sheikah which would retain the more Elvish features of their race and earlier Hylians. They would play like mages with some stealth abilities. Not very skilled in heavy melee weapons but able to wield daggers.

the final class or race would be more orcish and a combination of the green skinned Bulbin race of Twilight Princess and the Gerudo of past games. This time the race or class would be both male and female. Tribal warriors able to wield heavy melee weapons like two handed swords, axes, maces, etc. Powerhouses, but also able to mount giant steeds for battle and traversal.

The story revolves around the goddess of time possessing Zelda once more and trying to keep the three main classes / races from ever obtaining any piece of the Triforce again.

The Hylians want that of courage, the Sheikah that of wisdom, and the final class mentioned above obviously wants that of power.

Hylia / (dark?) Zelda use the temple of time as their base of operations and have an army of mechanical (clockwork almost) enemy constructs that they send out across Hyrule to secure temples and sites of power and related to the Triforce pieces.

But Hylia's main weapon is her group of trusted knights the Darknuts led by the most powerful of her constructs the Master Swordsman who wields the classic weapon of evil's bane. Only this time the weapon not only is highly dangerous to those with Demise's lineage but also the Sheikah and Hylians with the blood of the Hero of Time.

The Hylians, if one would choose to play that class would spend a lot of time exploring caves and dungeons looking for elements of power and pieces of the Triforce of courage before the final showdown with Hylia's forces who you would also face throughout the campaign.

The Sheikahs would spend a lot of time in ancient arcane temples learning spells and collecting their necessary elements of Sheikah tech / magic and Triforce pieces of wisdom while also dealing w/ Hylia's forces.

The orcish cross between the Bulblin and Gerudo would raid fortresses across the desert and engage in large battles on open plains in their efforts that also involve mysterious spirit sand elements from past Gerudo settings and the Triforce of Power which has been split between warring tribes of themselves. And again Hylia's forces play a role.

There would also of course be the hazards of monsters in the various areas of Hyrule's broken up kingdom and wild animals and world boss type enemies.

I would want this series to move away from the more anime take of the last few games starting with Skyward Sword and now with Age of Calamity and return to the darker roots of something like A Link to the Past.

Therefore some of the classic NPC races like Gorons and Zora would be more hostile in this era of Hyrule like they were in previous games. I would have the River Zora return and be more dangerous like Lovecraftian sea races and the Gorons would be more like the rock based enemies you would see in something like the Witcher 3. Any other friendly races from other games like Breath of the Wild's Rito would also be more dangerous and hostile bird races. And of course Lizalfos, Stalfos, and other enemy races like the Lionels would be there but not under the control of Ganon or involved in the big bad's plot. They are just world enemies with their own agenda and you can't communicate with them to any extent. Almost like they've lost their ability to reason (speaking of the Gorons, Rito, and Zora mainly in that aspect).

Skullkids, Koroks, and Kokiri would be slave labor of Hylia's clockwork industrial setting. Still friendly but oppressed and needing of being freed by whatever class you use. And they would be helpful to you once you reach the area of the Temple of the Time in game.

Characters would be very customizable but in keeping with the theme and aesthetic of their class and race.

The game would not be open world to other classes dominions or areas. So, no, you couldn't pick a Hylian and be able to defeat the Bulblin / Gerudo warlords or be able to solve the ancient Sheikah mysteries in their temples. And neither could you vice versa have a hulking orc solve the puzzles of a dungeon and deathtraps.

It would be three very big campaigns all leading to the final showdown at the Temple of Time with Hylia / Zelda being the endgame.

I think this would give the game some replayability.

Picture something on the scope of Majora's Mask X3 for each class plus the added final stage of the game which would be like one huge world area itself that each class gets to explore plus the final dungeon and boss encounter.

Just some brainstorming and wanted to share it with other Zelda fans.

Maybe add more classes and turn it into a full on wrpg
This could be a good place to try out procedurally generated dungeons

Maybe save the other classes for a Painted World type DLC.

Add in the

Dark Interlopers in place of the Hylians the shadow people finally returning blot out the light from Hyrule and usurp the Hylians.

bring back the Yeti from Twilight Princess but with a darker take that they were former humanoids of Hyrule who gave into a Wendigo like aspect of themselves in the cold wastes where they had been exiled to by an ancient kingdom.

and also maybe a forebear race to the Sheikah (kind of like the engineers from Prometheus) who found some kind of "star gate" doing construction or technology similar to the Stone Tower Temple and they are returning to punish the Sheikah for misusing or not doing enough with the magic and science they left them with.
