I used to loathe him as a child but the last few times I've fought him I haven't had too much trouble and was able to enjoy the fight more.
The way his little arena is just suspended over a big hole in the floor always made me think you could just place a bomb where it connects to the wall and make the whole thing drop. When I was little, I thought it might have been some secret, easy finish, like that boss in Super Metroid you can kill easily if you Grapple Beam to one of the electrical sources.
