As the cherry on top, on the heart of this location would be this warning:
Basically if you enter this place unprotected, you will lose hearts and if you stay there long enough, you will just die. This place would be known by the Hyruleans as an evil and cursed place because of the aforementioned illnesses and even death from entering the place. However, they don't realize that it's a dumping ground for hazardous materials from a distant civilization and instead misinterpreted the warning as implying that some eldtritch and demonic entity is sealed away underground and is the source of the taint this landmark brought upon on the surrounding land.
The "taint" is so dangerous that even the monsters avoid the place.
