Linked game in Oos/Ooa on NSO

In the Oracles of X/Y you can start a linked game via using a link cable between two players.
I do not know how to do this by myself in the Nintendo Scitch vers (NSO)
Do I need to use online multi-player to enable this feature?

I’d imagine that connecting to another console online would work, yes, but you don’t need the link cable function. There’s a password feature that works just as well.

thePlinko knows all, listen well. I think the only thing you may not be able to do on NSO is transfer rings.
