Ocarina of Time Killing the Red Tentacle

I can't kill the red tentacle in jabu's belly, the one with the electric around it
i know it says to z target but what is z target?
some one please help me

Z target is a feature you use to lock on to an enemy. When play the N64 version of OoT, you use Z. When playing GameCube or 3DS, you use L.

Targeting allows you to always be facing the enemy and also greatly improves your aim. If you throw the Boomerang while Z-targeting, it will always go towards the enemy you're targeting.

On 3DS it's L

The trick is to stay close enough that it lowers itself from the ceiling so you can hit it. L-target and throw your boomerang at until it is defeated. I like to get close enough to hit it then back away from it when it retaliates.
