This cycle is well thought out and makes complete sense – even the SS hate makes sense simply because it is new and introduces new concepts to the series (MM and TWW had the same 'problem). I wouldn't call it the Zelda cycle though, as this has gone on with the Sonic series, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty (to an extent) and a plethora of other games to boot. The fanbase of ZD I don't expect to take a hit, but across all Zelda sites (and even sites such as YouTube) I do expect there to be a considerable amount of Skyward hate. One can only surmise what'll happen when another Zelda releases. :X
To JJ:On a fanbase level, it totally is affected by it. Perhaps not on ZD, but when talking about the Zelda fanbase as a whole, it really is. By general public, I agree that it isn't affected as much as other series.
