How often do you sell games for new ones?

There's always games coming out that we want to play but don't have enough money for. So the question here is, have you even had to sell some or a lot of your games in order to buy new ones? Or even for a console? If you have, have you ever felt content w/ your decision or do you end up regretting it? I imagine this was a much more common thing as kids or teenagers.
Personally, I never sold any of games for new ones. It was hardly ever a thought for me. If I were to have done so back then, it definitely wouldn't have been my higher value games since those are the ones I'd wanna keep. Probably the licensed stuff if anything.

I don't anymore because I have gone digital now apart from some of the existing physical games I already have. I haven't bought or been bought a physical game in 2 years now.

I last sold my Xbox One and all the games on it I just don't remember when that was.

I'm in the same boat as @DeusMerrilyOnHigh, haven't bought a physical game in about two years. The last game I bought physically would have been Breath of the Wild, actually, the day it was released. All my games are digital, which means I basically couldn't sell them even if I wanted to since I technically don't own most of them.

I have sold games in the past, though not necessarily to buy newer ones. Usually it was when I had one of my minor crises and wanted to get rid of as many video games as I could. For example, a few years back I sold my Xbox 360 as well as all my games for it because I needed it out of my life. Ditto my Switch a few months after getting it at launch. I just needed those things gone so I sold them. I most likely used the money to buy pizzas.

I remember selling my GameCube and all games thinking that was it. I will never play games again. I was free of the addiction and I could put my time into something productive. But then I saw a TP advert on TV and asked for a Wii for my birthday.

A few years back I had a big sell off of my Nintendo games but I knew myself enough to hold onto my Zelda and Mario Kart games because they were the only ones I would definitiely go back to. Ironically, the only games I had for Switch were Zelda and Mario Kart and I sold them along with it because I already had Mario Kart 8 and I'd never play BotW again.

I used to, mostly during the Wii generation.

I don't now because most specialist stores near me have closed down and the rates for the stores that are left is crap.

I'd only sell games I didn't like and it has been a while since that's happened since I'm much more particular with what I purchase.

As much as EB Games would love me to, I don’t ever sell my old games or systems as I’d much rather keep building my collection. I don’t purchase as many new games as I used to so my budget for the games I do want to play isn’t really an issue that would cause me to need to sell anything off thankfully.

I very rarely buy any new video games these days, but I'm a bit more selective with what I do get. That said, I don't remember the last time I traded in a game when buying something new. Probably 10+ years, if not more. Even then, I rarely did it. I just held onto my games.

That said... years ago before I moved, back in 2013... I did sell virtually my entire collection, other than my NES games and Zelda stuff.

I've never sold any of my games or consoles. I've never felt the need to, nor would I ever want to.
