How Did Link Travel to Termina?

The Happy Mask Salesman knew a lot of sketchy things... It wouldn't be a stretch for him to know when the portal closes due to his acquirement of such knowledge. I don't think it was created by Majora so much as it's a place that Majora once inhabited. Listening to the old woman's story also tells us that the Skull Kid more likely originated in Termina before everything went awry and he left for a time because he thought the giants had abandoned him, but they didn't, they were just doing their duty. When the Skull Kid left, he found his way to Hyrule's Lost Wood where Link Taught him the song. If Majora had indeed created this world then it would be impossible for the Skull Kid to come over to Hyrule in any way shape or form.

The salesman needed the mask to get out of the dimension. He couldn't just get out and that's why he needed the mask in order to reverse the dimension spell. How was he able to get in with Link and the skullkid without the mask? Maybe he was closely behind them as the skullkid's trick was taking effect and went in when the skullkid did to try to get the mask back. He knew the time limit because he either heard skullkid talking about 'in 3 days' and/or he knew what the mask's powers were because he is a collector. At the end, the skullkid says that he didn't think that the gods (i will assume they are gods) wanted to be friends with him. When the mask created the world, all of the beings inside were it's creation but only certain things could be controlled (much like our real world, and God). So that doesn't mean that that particular skullkid was from termina. He had opened a world with the stolen mask, and tried to make friends and when he couldn't because everyone was so wrapped up with their own business, he decided to make the moon crash down and destroy them.

The Hero of Time arrives in Termina by means of some inter-dimensional rift that he stumbles upon, à la Through the Looking Glass. It is stated in the MM manual that Termina is an alternate reality parallel to Hyrule; the Hero of Time merely stumbles across the portal and goes straight in.
There are two areas where the portal is located, one in Termina, and one in Hyrule; the entrance in Hyrule is located somewhere within the Lost Woods, while the entrance in Termina is inside the Clock Tower. The game does not state whether the portal lasted for much longer than the Hero of Time was in it. I would wager that the portal did not exist much longer before or after the Hero of Time passed through it, because there would have been mention of it by other characters if it had been discovered. The only characters known to have passed through the portal are the Hero of Time, the Happy Mask Salesman, and arguably, Skull Kid. The Happy Mask Salesman also mentions that the portal closes at the end of the 3rd Day, implying that Termina and Hyrule would be separate again forever.

Would that be the portal that Caleb called a Windows 95 Worthy Screensaver?

First, they were giants, not gods. The Happy Mask Salesman could indeed just get out whenever he wanted to, just the same as he got in he could get out. He, however, knows the power of that mask and knows how dangerous it is, so he didn't want it to be roaming free. He was being responsible and a good guy. The old woman tells us the story of the giants and the skull kid, but at the end, he's seen looking up at the giants where they then proceed to tell him that they weren't ignoring him and that they were always friends. This gives credit to the old woman's story and proves that the Skull Kid did originate in Termina. Whenever you talk to the people they look at the moon and speculate saying things like the moon looks closer than it normally is and sometimes comment on the fact that it looks so malevolent. Why would they say things like this if the world was just created. If it was created then everyone wouldn't think anything odd about the moon at all, but they know that it's starting to crash down and some even try to get away which means that something is different than normal, which also signifies that this world was not created by Majora.

Then that would make his interest in the mask meaningless if he could just get out whenever he could. He could have just left and said "aaaaaw, forget it." How do you know how he got in? Like I said, he could have just snuck in when the skullkid and the mask entered the realm. When the moon destroys termina, the skullkid had a front row seat so he would have be annihilated along with the rest of the ppl (in the area) of the dimension so why would the salesman be worried if he could come and go as he pleased? Portal probably closed on the 3rd day because the whole world of the dimension would have been destroyed. Skull kid could have been there for a while before he made his decision to destroy everything (to respond to the lady's story thing). "Always friends" could just mean for as long as they've known either other (could mean just a few months or days even). It doesn't necessarily have to mean all the skullkid's life. If you've seen Mortal Kombat Conquest and have seen the episode where Shang Tsung creates an alternate dimension and tricks Kung Lao into entering it, ppl there seem to have had 'past memories' even though they were just created. So that could be a similar reason as to why ppl in Termina would say things like that. Why do you think the mask is so powerful? I think not just because it could turn the wearer into Michael Jackson xD. It creates powerful illusions/create other worlds and can bring things from the sky out of orbit :P

He could get out but he wanted the mask more. Like I said, he knows of the dangers of the mask and knows that if fallen into the really wrong hands could lead to much more destruction than the Skull Kid was doing. He was doing a moral duty to make sure that the worlds are safer with the mask in a secure location. It just means that he's not a selfish douche bag. He's also very intelligent, this much is obvious if not just from the information he knows about the mask itself. He talks to Link as if he knows that Link will get the job done. And Skull Kid is friends with the giants BEFORE obtaining the mask. It's implied in the game that the Skull Kid hasn't had the mask for very long, and he certainly wouldn't be friends with the giants with the mask on. To further disprove that Majora created this world, I'd like to bring up the ending when the Happy Mask Salesman picks up the mask. He says that the evil is gone from the mask, this means that the mask no longer has any power. If the mask created the world, but no longer has power, then the world would have disappeared right then and there.

"The evil has left the mask afterall" doesn't necessarily mean that the mask is powerless. It could just mean that the evil spirit residing within it is dead. After recieving the mask, the salesman walks toward the center town's gate and then disappears. Link then rides epona into the same direction that the salesman went before he faded/disappeared. If they could get out without the mask, then they would have done so in the exact same location they came in, not from a different location. Because they entered from the basement of the clock tower inside the city (and left through 'an invisible portal' on the outside of the town). And the skullkid didn't stay in termina either because at the end, it shows his drawing of him and Link as friends in Hyrule's Lost woods. So that could apply that the skullkid didn't stay in termina/wasn't from termina. The showing of the different ppl in termina after Link left could just have been reminiscing of the world that was left behind and probably didn't disappear until everyone who didn't belong, left (proposed with the magic of the mask controlled by the salesman now since the salesman left first).

The magic in the mask was caused by the spirit in the mask. If there's no spirit there's no magic. And it just shows them going off there's no invisible portal... That's just overthinking. The only reason it showed them like that was to make it known that Link was leaving and it was easier than showing them going through the clocktower portal. It's implied that they went back the same way that they came. And like I said... they could get out without the mask, they always could but these two are men of good morals. Link's the Hero of Time for crying out loud! of course he'd help out people in need... Indeed the ending with the drawing of the Skull Kid and Link on the stump in the Lost Woods says that the Skull Kid didn't stay in Termina, but the game does still imply that he originated in Termina.

I know where and how he disappears. They did it like that to show that he left Termina. In an instance like this you have to give it over to game mechanics and the fact that it's just easier to do it that way then to make an entire new cutscene just to show the salesman leaving... Don't take that into big consideration because it's really insignificant. The other masks are magic, yes, but don't have a spirit. But Majora's Mask has a spirit and the magic in it was the spirit's. Just the same as the magic in the deku/goron/zora/fierce deity mask were all magical due to the spirits in them. Remove the spirit of these masks and you remove the magic. Not all magic masks have to do with sealed away spirits. The point of the matter is by the time this part of the game comes around, there is no more evil in this world. If Majora had created this world all together, then her death would mean that the world itself would cease to exist since her power is now gone. And also, like I said, the Skull Kid was friends with the giants before acquiring Majora's Mask, which means that before Link came into this world, it did indeed exist. The Skull Kid felt neglected however and left and found his way to Hyrule, where in a tiff, robbed the salesman and stole the mask. He then returned to Termina to get revenge on everyone that he thought abandoned him. Shortly after this, Link stumbles upon Termina and we have a story.

I think link simply rode on his horse until he met skull kid. And when he entered the sewers of Termina he entered another dimension.

If the area you are in before you enter the clock tower (where Majora's mask turns link into a deku and where you find the butler's son) if the portal between Hyrule and Termina and it was sealed when you get the mask back to the salesman, then how'd the Butler get there??? to where his son's body was.:hmm: or was the portal the hole link fell in?? or the door that closes when you enter the clock tower????
