Wind Waker saw to it that the Zelda fan-base would forever suffer a rift in opinions regarding preferred art styles. Wind Waker brought the once-loathed-now-celebrated Cel-shading style to the Zelda franchise. Wind Waker was then followed by Twilight Princess, a game supposedly too obsessed with out-doing or being Ocarina of Time 2 (a point argued mostly on account of the 'realistic' style which had not been seen since OoT/MM). And now with Skyward Sword, many people believe it was Cel-shaded to better suit the Wii's capabilities (BS by the way). But nevertheless its interesting to wonder which direction nintendo will go next in terms of art style and Zelda.
So the point of this thread is to ask and discuss other art styles that you'd like to see in future Zelda titles; be they 'realistic' or cel-shaded
here are a couple of examples that I'd like to see
- This is quite a wonderful example of how cel-shading in HD could look.
- or perhaps this; it could be described as cel-shading but the more accurate term is rotoscoping, its a film making technique but could quite easily be emulated for an HD console video game
- or perhaps we'll just get standard 'realism' from now on..
So, are there any other art styles you would like to see implemented in later Zelda installments now that the console could handle anything?
(And sorry for the perhaps pointless thread, i'm bored and at 6s and 7s and wanted to chat about something...)
