What is your favorite non threatening Zelda animal? Mine is between horses and cuckoos. Epona is so awesome, but OoT and MM wouldn't have been the same without cuckoos.

...Non-threatening? Aww. XD But Epona is definitely threatening! She's killed tons of monsters by trampling over them!

Umm, mine would be a wolf! I especially like the design of the White Wolfos in Twilight Princess, but Wolf Link is just amazing! :3

I like the golden dolphins in Spirit Tracks! I just love blowing the whistle and having them jump around with the train! That is-until I reach land. I think they crashed into the side of the island or something.

Didn't I already answer this one?
I really like the helper animals from the Oracle games. They were all very unique, never before seen in the series(unless you count Dimitri, because I think he's a dodongo of some sort), and played a good part in the game. They kind of mixed things up a bit and were different from what we're used to. I loved how they were used, playing through places with their abilities, even though they weren't really used for a large portion of the game. It would have been nice if they had a dungeon for one of them or something, so they could put them to a little more use.

Dimitri was probably my favorite one, he just looked plain awesome. You could just ride around on his back and eat enemies and travel easily through the water. What was Dimitri, anyway? I'm pretty sure that I've heard that he's a type of dodongo, but certainly not any typical dodongo. Regardless of what he was, he was just plain awesome.

I think that Moosh is pretty close to my favorite as well, but I feel that his ability was a bit lacking. He was just plain awesome, though. He was a giant blue bear with wings, now how much cooler does it get than that? Both comical and pretty awesome in my opinion. His ability though... it was just meh. I know that Dimitri's swimming seems kind of plain, but all you really did with Moosh was fly over a few holes.

Oops, I should have voted "some" combination, probably. Because I love Epona. I also think the boars in TP are funny, the way you're hanging on for dear life when they begin charging.

I am also intrigued by EternalNocturne's choice of wolf Link.

But I have a couple specific favorites in TP due to the fact that that you can speak to them. I love all the cats in the game. The ones in the hidden village are adorable - they just want you to play with them. And I like Louise's moments, but I won't spoil them for people who haven't played the game.

Then there are two cuccos in that game I'm very fond of. The first is the one that watches out for hidden village cats and is just looking for someone to give them attention. The other is the golden cucco. The first time I heard "Twinkle twinkle little cucco, I am gold but not for you - oo..." I lost it, in a good way. *lol*

So yeah, I accidentally just picked "house pets", but it's really "house pets/cucco."

ETA: Oh, does Bow-Wow count? Because the chain chomp is not an enemy in Link's Awakening and walking one on a "leash" is just hilarious. XD

I did not see Moosh, nor did I see the monster-creatures, but perhaps monsters do not count. If they did, I'd have picked the Stalhounds from TP.

As it is, I chose "Ranch Animals" because I love the funky blue, circle-horned Ordon goats. They're familiar enough to give Link's home/early life the dusty feel of dusty ranching and they are not magical or mystical in any way, but they're also "fantastic" in that they aren't quite like anything in the real world. they look like a combination of goats/cattle, have those joined horns (I try to figure out how those things might grow in and what advantage they might give the animals closed like that - they seem more a liability), and the blue hair. I find them an improvement upon the plain old cows of earlier games.

But I like the cows of OoT and MM, too - they're cute how they'll give you free milk if you just play them a soothing song. They're sweet creatures.

Another thought just came to me -- I think one of the reasons why I like the Ordon goats as much as I do is that they're very much "like something I would create." I create odd animals for my novels, sometimes mystical, sometimes non, and I've done creatures that are very "mundane" yet off-kilter from real ones in one or a few odd features. One of my novels features a whole ecology/zoology like this, wherein cats have "long stilt legs" and horses have paws instead of hooves and sport fangs. Just subtle changes to the things we know to make things slightly "otherworldly."

For me, it was a tie between Riding Animals and Cuccos. I played TP and one of the best parts for me was riding Epona. But I like to beat up Cuccos so I can escape them alive(just to show off):). I also like Fish/Dolphins because without it, PH wouldn't be as good. There were also dolphins in ST, and if you got them all to jump at the same time, you could fill your life meter up by 1 heart. I'm not exactly sure what's next, but I might think of it later.

Wait.....
There are monkeys!?!?

All animals are great when you can talk to them like in TP. and the dogs in that game are adorable. once I stopped during a quest and played fetch with a puppy so long i almost forgot why i was in town. :D

The monkeys from LA were so pimp. All they wanted was bananas and *BAM* free entrance into the castle.
There was also one who threw coconuts at you from a tree on the beach, but we won't let a rotten apple ruin the whole basket ;P

I picked Riding Animals. Epona and the helpers in OoX were all awesome. =D

Epona. She's so fast . She could run from Kokiri Forest to Lake Hylia in 3 minutes or so. Saved me tons of time. I don't have the patience to spend 6-7 minutes going through Hyrule field each times. And Epona really helped me a lot. Also, she kills enemies in only one hit (trample?). Isn't that cool? :D

The helper animal in OoX were awesome, too. They had so many cool abilities (swim, curl up, punch, make small tornadoes, fly, etc... ) Control them was really fun, with all those abilities and the summoning flutes, etc. In additions, they could TALK. They were just like humans, with different stories behind each of them. I want them to make a comeback someday... :]

Wait.....
There are monkeys!?!?

There are monkeys in MM and LA. The one in MM was captured by the Deku King and the one in LA was throwing coconuts at you from a coconut tree.

I picked a combination of animals. My favourites would be the Riding Animals like Epona, but I also love the Farm Animals and the Monkeys. Can't forget Cuccos either!

Epona has to be one of my favourite animals in the whole series. I love riding her across Hyrule Field. She is very useful, and it makes the game relaxing and enjoyable with her.
I love the cows in OoT and MM because they are friendly to you and give you milk. And the Ordon Goats in Tp are adorable. I enjoy the fact when you give them a little pat, they react to you.

And I enjoy Cuccos simply for the fact that they are the most vicious, vile animals in the Zelda universe, yet they look so innocent.
