I get that, monetization can destroy creativity. That happened to my blog.I just draw for fun, I don’t want to monetize it or make money off of it.
Sorry that happened. And I totally agree. One of my favorite hobbies is crocheting, and I’ve had people ask me why I don’t make a business and sell the stuff I make. It’s one of the most relaxing things to do and I feel like monetizing it would suck the joy out of that.
In my case, what happened is people started reading my blog in large numbers, and as a result, they wanted me to write certain things, and I felt beholden to write what they wanted to hear, rather than what was really on my heart.
That must have felt so draining.
It was indeed. Always keep that fire, that passion for your work. Money is not as important as you loving your work.That must have felt so draining.
