We saw something new in Super Mario Maker 2 today: A theme based on a 3D Mario game. Super Mario 3D World is getting the 2D treatment.
A lot of people have wanted something new in 2D Mario, and we finally have a new aesthetic along with one of the most creative power-ups in recent memory making the switch to 2D.
I'm sure Nintendo could always add new elements not present in Super Mario Maker 2 to a new game to make it impossible for fans to completely replicate.
I would love to see something like this on Switch in the future.
