Dead or Alive Fans, Do They Exist?

The Dead or Alive series is a weird one... every fighter seems to need a gimmick whether it be weapon combat, gore or the best example of 2D and or projectile attacks. Yet DoA has always deviated from the norm and held itself as the sexiest fighter with spin off games that are essentially interactive porn even though the mainline of games have been solid fighting experiences...

After DoA4 it was felt by the head developers and director of the time that they had reached perfection with the franchise and that another installment wouldn't be needed. Fast forward a good 7 years and we have the wonderful DoA Dimensions on the 3DS, a new director and DoA5 with focus on fighting rather than eye candy and a wonderful stance on DLC by having no characters to unlock with real world money, instead replacing potential downloadable characters with the swimsuit costumes and everything else that made DoA a hyper sexualised series...

Yet even though over the years DoA has pleased people in more than one way (whether you're a fighting fan or not), fans of the series itself seem scarce which is odd if there was demand for a new game and that the series managed to get to 5 in the first place... so, are you a DoA fan? Are there such things as DoA fans as a majority or are DoA fans simply made up of those who like to play every fighter available under the sun?

I generally don't play fighting games because I suck at them, but I LOVE the DoA series!!! My first game of the series was DoA 2 on the Dreamcast, and I absolutely loved it. I really hope it comes out for download on the wii or wii u, or even if Xbox (it would be an insentive to finally buy one =p). The characters are fun, and their stories are great. I'm hope to get my hands on Dimensions soon.

I had fun playing the first DoA game by turning the whole bouncing boob thing into a joke with my friends, but other than that I can't say I've followed the series.

If DoA fans do exist they ought to be ashamed to admit it.

Just kidding, those games have nothing to be ashamed of :P

I kind of feel sorry for DoA. Dimensions and 5 have really turned it around. Its all about the fighting now and the story has been pushed forward more so than ever in the amazing Story modes in both Dimension and 5, they really are marvelous and a wonderful showcase of how a series can turn itself around.

The big shame is though that its a case of damage done because as soon as someone hears DoA they think bouncy breasts. Seriously there is very little of that in DoAD and 5. If this was old DoA then DoAD would have really maxxed the 3D gimmick for one thing only but they didnt. And the graphics on 5 are outstanding and could have showcased some bouncy breasts nicely but it didn't. Shame people aren't going to listen though.

Dead or Alive is the series with bouncy breasts, that's really all I know it for. I remember back on the Dreamcast in the days of DoA2, my brother and my dad would have some serious fights using Hayate, Kasumi, Ayame and so many others. That was when I was little -- I thought the series was for fighting. Now that I've seen DoA4 and grown up, I feel the series is only about the boobs. And that's what I care about! Although, Dimensions looks like (from demo player point of view) that it picks up the pace on fighting for sure! <3

Play 5!

Haha I love how that ad depicts the audience to the game.
Yet really a hot lesbian gamer with a lesbian poster in her room, enjoys playing the games. :P

I challenge most lesbians not to be attracted :P there should be a female audience version of that ad.

Does a wolf crap in the woods? I'm a big fan of fighting games, and DoA is at the top of my list. My brother and I used to play it religiously, but I have not played it as much as I'd like in recent years, because I'm low on funds. I plan on getting back up to steam with the series at some point, though. Also, gotta love those bewb physics ;J (jk).

Ryu Hayabusa and Ayane for the win...
