Skyward Sword Boulder in Lanayru Gorge?

In Lanayru Gorge, when you look to the left, where theres a door and a ramp going down, theres a big round rock/boulder. This may seem like a stupid question, but what is it for? I just dont understand why theres a big rock there and nothing to do with it.. Anybody know?

Yeah, I think MW7 is correct about this. The rock serves no purpose except for perhaps that.
