A Link Between Worlds Another Triforce in a Different World?

Some new information about A Link Between Wolrds was revealed in the newest installment of Nintendo Direct and that's what I'd like to talk about.

A_Link_Between_Worlds_Logo.png

This logo right here baffled some, another Triforce was placed directly below the Triforce we know. This maybe sparked some ideas of an old argument - the "Tetraforce". However, this was an entirely new Triforce, which represented a darker side. Some people made points about this being the "dark" Triforce, maybe something related to Demise's sword and the upside-down Triforce. Fact is that a lot of these arguments were shot down, with this probably being a reference to the Dark World etc.

To be honest, it did cross my mind about this being some kind of Dark Triforce, it's something that seems like a nice twist in the mythology of Hyrule. Although, it just didn't seem like Nintendo to go with such ideas, thus why I thought it was simply a reference to the Dark World.

Here's the new trailer:

Now Anouma states that this is in fact a "another" Triforce -- "Another Triforce in a different world to where Link lives". What does this mean? Well this is what this thread is for, this statement could open up for some pretty in depth theories and maybe there could in fact be another Triforce, I'll state my thoughts later, but I want to hear yours first.

Already posted the new trailer, so you're a bit late to the punch on that bit. :P;)

Anyway, in all seriousness, this was a great cocktease by Iwata, hinting at what the "Dark Triforce" might be, but not outright telling us. Oooooooh, you sneaky Jap, you.

I finally feel comfortable to anticipate for this game's release again. I'm glad that their actually having the Armos Shield as an equip-able shield instead of that simple blue shield. At least the first shield in the game's presence actually makes now. I'm also glad that they have a much better, more original artwork piece. Now that they to explain why the Hylian Shield is in there. I really can't wait to get this game now. I can finally feel excited for it again. :) Definitely getting this game at release. :triforcepiece:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, I knew that the Dark Triforce was going to turn out to be separate from the golden one we know and love. :) My new current theory is that the Dark Triforce is what corrupts the Sacred Realm again.

Guys, it hasn't been confirmed that it's a completely different Triforce. It might be some sort of dark semblance of it, like its shade, its counterpart. It could also be related to the Triforce mark on Ghirahim/Demise's sword. Wouldn't be a far stretch, since Sahasrahla's descendant blatantly called Ganon the Demon King.

You're right, that the true nature of this "dark" triforce hasn't been confirmed. However, it appears to be strongly hinted at that it is a different triforce.

Besides, is it really that improbable that an alternate dimension would have it's own version of the triforce.

(tbh, I wonder if we'll find a link that is different from our own also.)

Wait a minute, maybe there isn't just one Triforce? What if all of the other dimensions like Termina have their own Triforce????

Well to essentially clear things up we have to go back to the beginning; The Creation. Here the three Goddesses created Hyrule, note this wasn't the Kingdom nor the country this was referenced as the entire world. So the three Goddesses created the world basically, they left the Triforce (the relic) and tasked Hylia with guarding it. Then we have the events of all the games that follow and the split caused in Ocarina of Time - we have three alternate outcomes, which are essentially variants of that one world but different outcomes meaning that they run parallel to each other.

I think that's what we have to analyse here, the other parallel worlds. I do believe in the multiverse theory and I think that applies here. There is only one Triforce; however it can exist in different worlds. We know this because the Triforce coexists on all three Timelines, there is still only one, but there are now multiple universes created by different outcomes. I for one think Termina is basically another branch, a Hyrule that was the result of another outcome sometime in its past, this would explain why there are so many similarities, but because it was the result of a variety at one pivotal point in time, the people act differently to their counterparts.

So all in all, I think that this Dark World is essentially another parallel world, another branch in time that runs parallel to the Defeated Timeline. In this "alternate" set of events evil gained the Triforce and thus it is now a darker shade if it's former golden self. However, this could just be a representation of it being in the hands of evil, it's still the same Triforce, but now it's in the hands of dark forces.

So you actually have two worlds meeting, and two Triforces. Obviously this is just my view at the moment, it will change with time and I'm sure once this game releases we'll learnt the truth.

Like others have stated earlier, I think the "Dark Triforce" is separate from the Triforce that we already know. I see it more as a story element/key item in this sense. Either way, I can't wait for the game to come out. Now, back to the Marathon!

I don't see it as a "Dark Triforce" rather the corresponding Triforce for the other realm/Dark World. Basically that Link will again go questing for Triforce pieces, crystals, or pendants. At this moment we can't really say much.

Well, nintendo is in love with the rule of threes, so maybe we've even yet to hear about a third triforce! :O But seriously, I'm pretty stoked to learn more about this "Dark Triforce". My guess is the game obviously is going to delve into this dark world, but I hope it goes into detail and we learn more about ganon, demise, or any of these bad guys. Some "evil backstory", so to speak, would be pretty refreshing.

I think the fact that they actually caved to something so cliche as a "Shadowy Triforce" is really undesirable and fan-fic like, which is largely why I was super hesitant to go down that road. However, it's nice to see they're actually expanding the Triforce lore, so I can't complain too much.

somewhere.
my first thought when i heard about it was "maybe we'll have to go through and collect the pieces for this one also", and i'm hoping thats the case. it would possibly add to the game if they have us collect not just one, but two triforces. thats just my opinion.

The thing that pops into my mind is Majora's Mask, and Ocarina of Time. What if the 'other Triforce' is in the world similar to the 'original' world, but it's in a parallel world? Like, the Dark Realm.

IMO, it sounds like a bad fanfiction idea, as a friend of mine said to me the other day. However, the potential there could work out.

Perhaps its's a counterpart... I never paid any attention to Demise's upside-down triforce, but now I am. There is a story element here that could be explored. In Hyrule Historia, they say that Ghirahim is supposed to be Fi's counterpart. So why not take it further and confirm that perhaps that Demise is Hylia's counterpart? Hylia's duty was to protect the Triforce, so maybe Demise was brought about to protect this "dark" version. They might even go so far as to say there are dark counterparts to the golden goddesses. I highly doubt it, but perhaps the Demise-Hylia connection could be some part of this upcoming game's backstory lore.

It's a good chance to further define these supposedly important characters they recently introduced to the series and failed to fully develop. Knowing Nintendo, they'll probably go the usual route of coming up with completely new lore, but the opportunity to work on that connection just seems to be like a perfect choice at this point.
