Is the downfall the natural timeline?

Sorry, double posting, but looking back I think I should put more information here than just restating my claim. You're right on downfall being the only one that happens naturally. When a player goes through OoT, they are playing in the world that would later become the world of WW, simply...

Is the downfall the natural timeline?

Yes, that's exactly right. The timeline was originally downfall, then something interfered causing the adult timeline events (which we play in the game), and at the end of that Link is sent off, starting the CT. So while the natural path would have been downfall, something was altered to crate...

Is the downfall the natural timeline?

Okay, I think I get it now. While OoT is the start of all three branches, it's set primarily in the AT. Just like what we determined about the player never playing as the Link that dies to start the DT, they aren't in the CT either. Following a linear course of events in OoT, Link pulls the...

Is the downfall the natural timeline?

By interference, I think of anything causing it to stray from the natural course of events. For Downfall to be the natural timeline, it implies that the hero was always destined to fail. The natural course of events would be that Link died. We as the player, at some point bring about that...

Is the downfall the natural timeline?

So I just had a thought... I'm now not entirely sure that downfall is the natural timeline. Downfall being natural implies no interference, but consider this line from lttp- This Golden Land was later confirmed to be the Sacred Realm. When Link opened the door of time and entered the Sacred...

Is the downfall the natural timeline?

It seems as though Nintendo was trying to say that if the player died while fighting Ganondorf, they caused the downfall timeline, but that really doesn't work. I think the basic conclusion here is that the Link in the DT is theoretical, and can never actually be played as.

Is the downfall the natural timeline?

UMMMMMMMM.... flashbacks anyone???^^^ I think I understand what you're getting at with these points. Had there been ABSOLUTELY NO time interference, Link would've been stuck in Hyrule those seven years, and died facing Ganondorf. But instead, he had to pull the stupid master sword too soon...
