Consoles need a tv and power to play, they don't need internet to play, Microsoft is just introducing an unneeded complication.

We already have sort of monopolies in the past, the NES(at least in the USA and Japan), Playstation, Playstation 2. Also, I don't buy that games will suddenly increase in price if there's only one console on the market, I mean there's always competition from PC gaming.

Come to think of it, why even make different consoles? Why couldn't they all agree to make just one console standard per generation and be done with it.
