Nintendo wants to convert the Zelda series to be more in line disconnected games like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy, so they can do whatever they want with each installment; but at the same time they want to keep the Nostalgia bait. That’s why TotK is not even a sequel to BotW.

A one linear timeline is impossible because of OoT. And a timeline merging (Dragon Break - Bethesda) is not likely. I looked for anything in Hinduism, Buddhism, or Shintoism and I find nothing in it that has that. But why to people like that? Like literally what possible thing would be gained...

I said that "if we never got a game", that means that AoC happens because Rauru must have vanquished Ganondorf, and Zelda never needed to travel in the past. If we do get a new Musou game, that writers need to have Zelda through Destiny go into the Depths and pick the Zonai Stone.
