    Is it "super effective"?

I Might not tell them. I don't want to wasps to think I've chosen a side ;)
I don't think I know that song :hmm:

I do know that My brothers think wasps are evil. and when they go swimming they try to "hunt" them with squirt guns, and diving if it starts flying closer to them.

I've seen the toss people do when a honey bee is looking for sugar near trash cans.

And I realize that was me before beekeeping.
    (wasps still scare me though.)
Dead or drowned bees can still sting. sounds like you friends little bro touched the wrong end of the dead bee They were probably only looking for water and discovered the pool and sent a party to collect water. They drowned because they had nothing but the surface of the water to land on. doesn't sound like anything too unusual. Also wasps and hornets may have discovered it and drowned when getting a drink.

Most of the time wasps give bees the bad rep they tend to have. The average person tends to consider any flying insect that stings a bee.

There are some bad bees though, that can be either really aggressive or really defensive. Both are bad if you are trying to work them and defensive is usually ok for a wild hive unless in a location where it would be disturbed. In both cases though if you see one foraging they are not likely to sting you.

Sorry, I tend to get carried away when I start talking about bees.
I can understand not liking them because you are allergic to being stung. I'm moderately allergic, I swell up a bit but its not bad enough to need an EpiPen.
But what is the full story about your friends little brother? I would Like to say he was likely stung by a bunch of hornets. But that depends on the area you live in. and how it took place. Many people are under the misconception that all stinging insects are bees.

I am a beekeeper. And I want to make sure that your hatred towards them isn't because you are uninformed about them.
Aha, I think I might have seen him... Anyway, I'll have to leave now. Later!
