I would like to know less about the item and more about the brother's whereabouts. Where is he often kept?

The soil is then disrupted by explosion of rocks to reveal a cave, or digging holes. Unless the sand does not rupture from careless hounds.

Nope, sorry guys. The shield isn't found underground, and the Eye of Truth has no "brother" or item to be paired up with.

Close enough. Yes, the riddle is specifically the Dungeon Map. The "brother" mentioned in the riddle is the Compass. I considered them underground because they're found in dungeons, and dungeons are typically under the ground and such.
