Is it the Lens of Truth(Snowhead) in MM.

Keapora Geabora is an owl(bird) and he reveals the path to them with his feathers and if you fall you can't be heard.

I never do these, but... Magic Cape from A Link to the Past? In that one cave thingy in the Dark World--it's covered in spikes... the Magic Cape is a helpful item in that hidden area.
