And as far as "fixing" this piece goes...whew, that's harsh.

I wouldn't call it broken either. But with art, it isn't really a function game. Yes, the piece is functional. But is it...fabulous? Is it...moving? Is it stunning? Well no, it isn't. Some parts are. It's a very functional piece with sometimes moments of fabulous. But, and I do believe this is a key to the best writing, it should do more than function. In fact, I prefer dysfunctional pieces that are fabulous and moving and stunning and new because functional pieces tend towards being unambitious. (Not that I'm saying your own is, btw.)
