Week 71
Monday, 20th October
Here's the settings menu for Rules. Comical pictures appear on the left when you go through the options, so I'll briefly introduce them.
Going clockwise from the top-left corner, here are the pictures that appear for Rules, Time Limit, Custom Fighters, Stage Choice, Damage Ratio, and Handicap.
In the Wii U version, you can customize additional rules from the beginning of the game. Here are the pictures displayed for Stock Time Limit, Team Attack, Pause Function, SD Penalty, Damage Display, and Score Display. You can almost hear Fox's cry in the picture displayed for SD Penalty settings.
All these options existed in previous games (except Custom Fighters obviously), but the second screen of additional rules no longer needs to be unlocked. In the 3DS version, this was done by achieving 200 KOs in the save file.
Tuesday, 21st October
The trophies from the Xenoblade series can be found mostly in the Wii U version. Here's Melia looking the other way.
Here the Trophy Photo Studio is put to use. It is more expansive compared to the similar Diorama mode in
Brawl, with options to scale trophies properly and move them vertically on the Y plane.
Wednesday, 22nd October
Here's what's happening behind the scenes in one of the secret fighter's shooting moves. The object being held is called an NES Zapper. This is an accessory which was released for the NES outside of Japan. Now, this image is edited, but it's a scene from the secret fighter's reveal video.
This is the first and only official acknowledgement of the Duck Hunt Duo character so far, who is the last remaining newcomer yet to receive a page on the official website. After Bowser Jr.'s trailer and page being revealed on the Friday, this means there is just this one new trailer to be shown, provided no spanners are thrown into the works...
Thursday, 23rd October
The giant screen in the Boxing Ring stage for Wii U reenacts the multiscreen effect seen in the arcade version of Punch-Out!! Looks like their aliases are displayed on the screen too.
By the way, today, October 23rd at 3 PM PST (October 23rd 11 PM UK time, October 24th 9 AM Sydney Time, we are streaming "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza" (“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”). You can watch the stream from the links below when it starts.
For Americas:

For Europe:

For Oceania:

Before this screen would only show a video feed of the current view, like the Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 stages in
Melee and
Brawl. Similarly, it has the current match score and such on display as well.

At long last, the Wii U version supports eight-player multiplayer!! It gets pretty hectic watching eight people duke it out at once. For more details, check out "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza" (“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50 Must-See Things”).

And here's a stage prepared for a large number of fighters, Big Battlefield!! Fighters can spread out, so it should be easier battling on a stage like this.
The original eight can all fit on-screen together in this special new mode. In addition to both these editions of Battlefield, many large stages can be played with eight players, including more when put into Omega form.
Looking at the official website, there are several new pages. Of course, newcomer
Bowser Jr. has his page, and so does veteran
Mr. Game & Watch. In the How to Play section, there is now information on just some of the features and modes explained in the presentation, now being
Smash,
8-Player Smash,
Controllers,
Events and
My Music.
Most notable of all the new content shown is regarding stages; many new ones were announced, including retro stages from all previous games in the series. New stages revealed in the presentation were Big Battlefield, Mario Circuit (from
Mario Kart 8), Jungle Hijinxs, the Great Cave Offensive (which was hinted at on an official Facebook account earlier this month), Wrecking Crew, Wuhu Island and a
Yoshi Woolly World stage. Also, after launch, a Miiverse stage will be available.
From Brawl, there is Delfino Plaza, Mario Circuit, Luigi's Mansion, Bridge of Eldin, Norfair, Lylat Cruise, Pokemon Stadium 2, Port Town Aero Dive, Skyworld and 75m. From Melee, Yoshi's Island and Temple were shown to be coming back, the latter of which was teased in a daily pic earlier this week. Finally, Kongo Jungle from Smash Brothers 64 can be seen on the stage selection screen.
A few hundred new screenshots of all of the new stuff has been released and you can view them in two imgur galleries
here and
here. Alternatively, view a portion of them
here on minus or
