I guess I can look forward to playing as an agile speedster now that Sheik has been revealed. Not so sure about Darunia, though; I've never been the biggest fan of slow powerhouses, though I'd sense a feeling of contentment if he fights similarly to Darmani Link in Majora's Mask. I honestly have no clue what to say about Ruto. She may turn out to be a speedster-type as well, but I can't even begin to imagine what her fighting abilities will be like. She comes off to me as the type of character that'd be awkward outside of its element, which in her case is water. I hope to gods she doesn't fight with a hookshot, though; anything but that.

I doubt that. I'm thinking the hookshot will be a stage specific item. So like, if you are in the Palace of Twilight like area, you would get to use it against Argorok and whatnot. But I don't see Ruto using it. I think she'll be a fast character, perhaps her fins will be her weapons.

Yeah, I know. Agreed. My response was based on someone else's idea as to how Ruto may fight. Didn't want to call them out, you know? But if you want, their post can be found on the first page of this thread.

Ah, late to the party again, I see!

Overall, a nice reveal of characters. I don't want to say what has already been established, since we get the picture on the speculative fighting styles of the three. I'm mostly interesting in how Darunia's going to be used, however. While he's a big guy, and is bound to have some powerhouse elements added to his style, I think, since he does dance in OOT, there will be a tinge of grace involved in his moveset. Perhaps the dancing Darunia can be part of his "Musou Attack" (Musou Attack=special attack). Comparing him to DW characters, I can see Darunia as a mix of Meng Huo and Zhang He, but mainly the former.

I know that this roster is going to get better!

Cool. But... The translation says Cia only takes things from OoT, TP and SS worlds. We may not be getting any characters from other games, unless they're extra.

I can understand that. Those three games are the easiest to convert into this style. Kind of makes me sad though, at least for Medli. Though, outside of those three games, the only other one I was totally interested in aside from Medli was Vaati. Though they could still happen in a sequel.

However, that increases the chances of certain character being announced playable later.

We could now see the entire Resistance, Groose, Batreaux, Nabooru, Rauru and Saria. This also doesn't decrease the chances for characters like Skull Kid, who is in Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. Or Happy Mask Salesman, who was in Ocarina of Time. Actually Majora's Mask itself is still open, since it connects to Ocarina of Time's Hyrule.

I'm so sad that WW characters are most likely not gonna be in HW because of the artstyle of that game. :(

It is pretty sad, but the reason I guess they would make this decision is because they would rather make sure they did a good job with Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time material. They didn't want to do anything else half ***.
As I said though, Majora's Mask is still technically open.

I'm just sad this means no Medli or Vaati.

Found some new screenshots!

A lot of information can be displayed in these eight screenshots! It looks like Shiek is going to use her harp as one of her weapons alongside her blade knives. There's a screenshot of Shiek holding some kind or mirror and this could be part of the story between Zelda and Shiek and this proves that they are separate characters as there is another screenshot of the two fighting each other. It appears that Lake Hylia from Ocarina of Time will be an area that you can access as there is another crystal that signifies that this is a capture point. Darunia does in fact have the Megaton hammer and can also leap into the air and curl himself into a ball and fall down towards the ground and cause havoc to his nearby surroudings (very similar to Mario and Luigi's Groun-Pound technique). Death Mountain from Ocarina of Time will also be another playable stage. We also see that Impa and Shiek will have a sort of interaction as we see that Impa and Shiek alongside the Hylian soldiers and in another screenshot we see Shiek gently hold a fairy that looks similar to Navi. Impa gains a new weapon which some kind of spear blade and it appears Tektites will be in this game as several enemies in the game. Lana also gets another weapon which appears to be the Deku Tree Sprout from Ocarina of Time. It also appears that we will also be go inside the Great Deku Tree as a playable area. Finally, much like how you can switch Link and Zelda to appear as their Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword incarnations, Ocarina of Time will also allow you to change to OoT Link and OoT Zelda.

Is it just me, or do a couple of those background images also look like the Water Temple and Frozen Zora's Domain?

One in the area where Sheik fights, and another behind Ruto in an image where she seems to be showing the player that's behind her.

I love it all, especially the Link and Zelda OoT outfits and being able to play as Darunia. Here's the details as translated by Nintendo Everything:

Sheik
-Toys with her enemies with ninja like movement
-Uses the harp as her main weapon
-Also carries knives
-With the harp she can play magical melodies to assign various elemental attributes and to attack with that attribute
-With the power of flame Sheik can drop flaming boulders on enemies
-If you perform “unleash of magical power”, you can use the power of lightning to sweep enemies
-Sheik speaks in a mysterious way that has hidden hints of the future
-Sheik is addressed as a brave warrior from the Sheikah tribe; there is no word that she is Zelda
-In the story, Sheik appears before Link and co. and suggests cooperation

Princess Ruto
-She uses magic to summon water, move and attack
-Ruto can also unleash power that has been gathered from attacks to shoot water
-She is proud but has a gentle heart

Lake Hylia
-When Cia twisted dimensions, lake’s surroundings were influenced with ice
-Sheik and Impa encounter hostile Zelda in the water temple
-Zelda also has company in the form of some monsters
-Sheik aims the lens of truth towards the person who looks like Zelda and… (Famitsu doesn’t finish the sentence)

Darunia
-Has superhuman strength and handles the heavy hammer with ease
-His specialty is a rolling attack
-He can also summon the power of fire by hitting the ground

Death Mountain
-Sheik and Impa walk towards Death Mountain to stop some monsters
-On the way they encounter a fairy who tells them that unusual things have happened
-Sheik and Impa then speed up their travel
-But does that fairy shout “Hey!” with robust voice?

Impa
-Uses halberd with a fire element
-Can attack enemies with giant blades
-Can also create walls of fire to pincer enemies’ movement or create dragon of flames to burn down enemies

Lana
-Uses a big branch and lends the power of the Deku Tree
-Uses seeds, leaves, and roots to attack
-Can plant seeds into the ground
-The seed will soon grow and when the transformation is complete it will unleash attacks; you can ride the Deku child
-She can use the Deku Leaf from Wind Waker to blow enemies away from a large range

Faron Woods
-Original stage for this game
-The center piece of the forest is the Great Deku Tree which is huge and has many branches
-Great Deku Tree acts as a guardian deity
-People have built a village in the forest; they can take shelter in the caves of the great tree

Other
-You can pick force shards or kill enemies to build up knockout/musou attack meter
-When it is full you can unleash a powerful knockout attack which attacks enemies from a wide area
-There are also items that build up a magic meter
-When full, you can perform “unleash of magical power”
-This effect lets you attack faster

Boomerang
-You can obtain the boomerang from a treasure chest and use it as an item
-If the boomerang hits an enemy, it will make it stand still for a short amount of time
-You may also acquire strengthening item which transform the boomerang into the Gale Boomerang
-Gale Boomerang springs forth a tornado which will make enemies float
-If enemies are hit when they are midair they will take more damage than usual

Skulltulas
-There are 100 Gold Skulltulas in the world
-One will appear as an enemy if certain special conditions are met
-If you slay one, you will get an illustration piece
-You can find information about Skulltulas in the stage select screen
-You will know that a Skulltula has appeared from a spider web like marker on the map which also pins down the location
-Then you have limited time to find and slay it
-If you are nearby, you will hear a rustling sound
-In the picture, one of the Skulltulas is under some large boulder so bombs are needed to uncover it
-Skulltula appearance is related to used weapon/character, at least in some cases

Weapon bags
-You can pick weapon bags from slayed enemies
-Obtained weapons are random and you won’t know how good the weapon is until you clear the stage
-You can also find “sealed weapons” from treasure boxes
-These increase the amount of types of weapons that a character can use

Weapon information screen
1. Weapon name; in the picture it is a variation of Biggoron’s Sword.
2. Rarity of the weapon. More stars means rarer.
3. Attribute. There are fire, water, lightning, light and darkness. If you use attribute that enemy is weak for, the damage will increase.
4. Attack power.
5. Skill (in picture “rupee increase”).
6. Sealed skill. Needs to fill requirements to unlock. In the picture, you need to kill 3000 enemies
7. Empty slot. You can fill these in the junk shop. At maximum you may have 8 skills.

More details on weapons/shopping
-Junk shop is part of the shopmall
-In junk shop you can compose stronger weapons by switching skills
-Ex: swap a skill from a powerful weapon into your favorite weapon
-There are limits on how many skills of a same skill group you can have in one weapon at once
-It seems that the weapon from which the skill is swapped from will turn into materials and so it is lost

Now that we're gotten this far and heard there are three universes mainly being drawn from with them being Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time, I can make further predictions. I don't necessarily believe this means we will see nothing else from Majora's Mask or Wind Waker, especially Majora's Mask, since Termina is connected to Hyrule. I doubt we'll see much drawn from anything outside of TP, SS and OoT now though.

So, over the next three weeks up to the release of Hyrule Warriors, I predict we will get the following as far as playable characters go.

Villains will be confirmed playable.
We will get more playable characters from TP, SS and OoT.
We will get new playable characters every week.

And as far as who I think is most likely to be in, I have to narrow it down to this list:

Zant (50%, if any villains are revealed playable, I move this up to 100%)
Ganondorf (50%, same as above)
Ghirahim (50%, ditto)
Cia (50%, again ditto)
Valga (40%, very likely if villains are playable, 90% in that case)
Wizzro (10%, I doubt he is playable either way)
Ashei (90%, probably the most likely of all non villain TP characters left)
Auru (80%, on the same plane as Ashei, but probably not as likely)
Shad (60%, he's lower than the two above because he might not have a real moveset, but I can see him using ruins)
Rusl (40%, I just don't see what he can do, but it can still happen)
Telma (40%, same as Rusl except I have a better idea as to what Rusl could do, but she's also the leader)
Hero's Shade (50%, not really on the Hero's Shade bandwagon, but it would be fanservice)
Death Sword (0%, a man can dream)
Groose (95%, he's on the same level as Ashei when it comes to who can be playable from Skyward, except that he is coming from a game with a lower selection of possibilities)
Batreaux (30%, highly unlikely, but he is unique enough to make the cut, just maybe not this game. Then again, Agitha, and she had pretty much the same role in her game as Batreaux had in SS)
Demise (40%, if he's in the game, he's most likely to be playable)
Beedle (30%, also unlikely, but it can happen)
Gondo (30%, ditto)
Nabooru (80%, she's got to be the next probable character from OoT)
Saria (50%, she seemed more likely before I saw Lana's second weapon, but hey, it can still happen)
Rauru (40%, so low because he didn't really fight, but he is a sage, so he has that going for him)
Dark Link (40%, if he is announced, there's a decent chance for him to be playable)
Twinrova (40%, same as Dark Link)

Then, outside of the main three games...

Skull Kid (70%, he still technically is in Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, so he has what I consider the highest probability of non-TP, non-SS, and non-OoT exclusive characters. Plus, people love him. He has that on his side.)
Din (50%, if one of the goddesses in, it increases the chances of the others)
Nayru (50%, same as above, though this could be who Lana is as we have mentioned before)
Farore (50%, same as Din)
Happy Mask Salesman (35%, unlikely, but people do like him, and it would definitely be different)

That's basically what I feel the chances are for characters if we eliminate character that didn't appear in TP, SS or OoT.

Could be missing some. You may now call me Fi.

Just as predicted. I expect there to be many cameos from the other games, aside from characters, of course. The Moon from Majora's Mask can be seen at some point, after all. And I expect to see the Skull Kid, seeing as how it technically appeared in both MM and Twilight Princess. The Deku Leaf from The Wind Waker was also mentioned.
