Hi,

Does anyone know if it's, at all, possible to play an old NES system on a modern LED HD TV?
I've tried connecting my old NES but nothing seems to happen.
I play most NES classsics on my GC/Gameboy Player, but it would be nice to get the old NES going again,
for some true old school gaming.

Grateful for any tip.

Thanks!
Yes, it does have those things.
The thing is the NES connects via the antenna input (or what it's called)
but I guess it would require some converter cable or
something to connect with the NES then.

I'm sorry I'm not very clever with these things.

Which style do you have?

If you have an original, you can connect using an AV cable(yellow, red, white) Your HDTV should have inputs on the back or the sides, if it doesn't I don't know what to tell you. I think the AV ports on the NES are on one of the sides.

If you have a newer one, You have to use the RF switch that hopefully came with the NES, Your HDTV might have an antenna port that you can hook it up to.

While Nintendo doesn't have instructions to hook up to a newer tv, the link should help you figure out how to hook up your system anyway.

The AV cable method is likely the way that you can make it work with your tv.

I hope i was some help.

Thank you!

This is very helpful.
I have the Original Model.

It looks like this is going to work when I get the correct cable.

I hope it works out well, I know putting A megadrive on an HDTV works well but it does lose the effect to display transparent objects correctly I noticed. Not sure if the nes may have some drawbacks when displayed on an HDTV.

Thanks for your help!
I bought a "AV Scart cable" today and hooked it up, it works!
