GameXplain are famous for their coverage so I guess I'll post the first of their new videos here, too.

N64 Rainbow Road is a track I always feared...

We've got another 6 retro tracks revealed. They are:

  • Toad's Turnpike, Royal Raceway and Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 64.
  • Moo Moo Meadows from Mario Kart Wii.
  • Cheep Cheep Beach from Mario Kart DS.
  • Donut Plains 3 from Super Mario Kart.

Here's a listing of the other retro tracks known to be in the game:

  • Melody Motorway (Music Park), Piranha Plant Pipeway (Piranha Plant Slide) and DK Jungle from Mario Kart 7.
  • Grumble Volcano from Mario Kart Wii.
  • Tick Tock Clock from Mario Kart DS.
  • Dry Dry Desert from Mario Kart: Double Dash.
  • Mario Circuit from Mario Kart: Super Circuit.

That equals 13 tracks, only three left. In terms of distribution, the count is at three for each 3DS and 64, two from Wii and DS, and one from GCN, GBA and SNES. Anybody care to guess where the three remaining will come from? It's worth noting that including these three now returning tracks from Mario Kart 64, the only courses from that game not to be in a future title are Wario Stadium and Yoshi Valley. The latter has already been hinted at in the new Sunshine Airport stage, so make of that as you will.

What's wrong with that? Variety is a GOOD thing.
i loved the N 64 version and i was verry happy and exited that it returned. just haveing it with 3 sections ( 1 lap) instead of 3 laps makes it feel so short and it the race will be over b4 i get to enjoy its Incredible visual upgrade.

Shouldn't that make it feel longer?

no it doesnt. having the track in 3 sections you only get 1 whole lap. compare to the original were u had 3 whole laps.
see it shortens the experience when it is in 3 sections they should had kept it 3 laps

Rainbow Road on N64 is the longest track in the history of Mario Kart, also one of the most boring. Anything that cuts down its length is a good thing. I'd rather two minutes done well than six minutes of nothing. It's nice to see it buffed up like it is, but trust me, doing only one "lap" now is for the better.

What's with your deep hatred for MK64? Geez.

That's a bad argument. There's a lot more going on in this new version, and a lot more visual flair. I actually thought it was the new Rainbow Road at first. It wasn't until I recognized the floating objects and whatnot that I realized it was a remake.

I dont mind the new version at all, im glad it has a new visual and musical update. its just the way they have the laps set up that disappointed me.

It's not a bad argument at all. He never said there wasn't a lot going on in this version, he is just talking about N64 Rainbow Road exclusively. I happen to agree with what he says.
