That's not a different type of Lynel, just a different type of weapon (they can have a club, a spear, or a sword and shield, and I think all have a bow). Silver is the strongest type of Lynel (as with other enemies), and once you reach a certain point all of the lynels will be silver.

Just been going through hunting Lynels, and am finding Silver Lynels to be a pretty good source of star fragments as well... so if you're at the stage where you can take them on, I highly recommend it... they drop a ton of other useful stuff as well.

The one I was thinking of was the balloon one at (I think) woodland stable.

You can also get at least one as a quest reward, and I think I remember seeing that it's a rare drop from amiibo (although I may have been a specific amiibo)... but chasing them down at night is the quickest way.
