The folks over at Zeldathon are hosting their 10th Legend of Zelda Marathon for charity, this time raising money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Over the years the team has raised an astonishing $170,000 for various charities, all while live streaming some Zelda gameplay, interacting with the chat, and doing a whole variety of wacky things. You can make the jump to check out the live stream, as well as reading the full press release from the Zeldathon team.
On December 27th, the world will be able to watch 120 consecutive hours of The Legend of Zelda online at http://zeldathon.net. Zeldathon: St. Jude is the tenth major charity marathon from the team at The Zeldathon Network, which has raised over $170,000 for good causes over the past four years. This time around, the team is putting a focus on expanding the focus of their stream, creating more ways to interact with the fans and making the gameplay more interesting to watch.
The Zeldathon team is known for their crazy donation challenges. For example, in the past, we have seen awkward tangos, mind-blowing karaoke, men dressed as The Great Fairy from Ocarina of Time, the entire team slapping one another, as well as fan-favorites such as the Chubby Bunny challenge and the eating of Ghost Chile Peppers. “We have tons of surprises in store for the viewers this time around,” says Executive Director Matthew Moffit, “Our wonderful Great Fairy may for the first time leave the Zeldathon house with a cameraman alongside him. But I can’t spoil more than that!”
Fans of The Legend of Zelda games will be very excited to hear that every Zelda game will be played during this marathon. To help accomplish this, the team is introducing Second Quest Stream, a secondary stream you can open that will show gameplay of someone sitting on the Zeldathon couch! The harder to stream games, such as Phantom Hourglass, and the less enjoyed games, such as Faces of Evil will be streamed on this alternate channel. Second Quest will also feature a few surprises that the team isn’t quite ready to unveil.
This winter, the team will be raising money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, an organization that is dedicated to providing treatment to all children, regardless of race, religion or a family’s ability to pay. More information about the marathon, as well as the marathon trailer, can be found at their website, http://zeldathon.net.
