Monoploy: The Legend of Zelda and Monoply: Pokemon will be released in late August or early September. Both sets have a confirmed suggested retail prices of $45.00. Connect 4: Super Mario is set for a spring 2014 release, and will cost $24.95, according to a USAoply press release.

The announcement follows comments made by Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata to investors last January. He suggested then that the Japanese video game company would increase licensing of its characters to outside partners. Although this has raised the possibility of film adaptations of Nintendo’s popular works, it looks like Mario and Link will be transitioning into the realm of board games first.

Overall, this partnership seems like a smart move for both companies. USAopoly gets to profit from popular characters, and Nintendo is able to broaden the appeal and visibility of its franchises outside the realm of gaming.
