Zelda Fanart Spotlight- Unbreakable Spirit
Posted on September 04 2013 by Hachi
Welcome to another Fanart Spotlight! Today we are going to take a look at at a piece of Digital Art based on The Wind Waker called “Unbreakable Spirit” by DeviantART member lulles. Although it’s a digital piece, the artist made the work look as though it was created with traditional mediums. The technique of making digital art look more organic has become popular in recent months, and it’s no surprise why it’s caught on. You still have the immense amount of control and precision that digital media can deliver, but create something that looks more natural and unique in the process.
This technique is coupled with the artists stylized version of The Wind Waker Style, giving the characters a more westernized storybook makeover. The fluid background that imitates a watercolor wash compliments the new shading style The Wind Waker HD has.
The Great Sea is rendered with haphazard lines, showing the dynamic movement of the water as the King of Red Lions sails through the rough waves.
The artist also adds a few little touches such as having some of Link’s trusty items out, my favorite being the Deku Leaf wrapped around his neck and waving behind him like a cape.
