Zelda Fanart Spotlight- Ocean Grooves
Posted on February 20 2013 by Hachi
Welcome to another edition of Fanart Spotlight! Today we will be looking at “Ocean Grooves” a very bright and blue picture of Zora Link from Majora’s Mask by Finnish artist Rinkula.
The image depicts Zora Link swimming through the water, smirking at us as he quickly passes by. The artist gives us an extreme close up of his face, and elongates his twisting body the further away it is from the viewer to create the illusion of perspective. She also uses the angle of Link’s body and the water current he is creating behind him to create a beautiful composition for this picture, moving the viewers eye around and towards Link’s face. While there is not too much detail in the background as Link is swimming in open water, there is the subtle silhouette of some far away underwater geographical features. It’s just enough to really emphasis how vast of an area Zora Link is exploring and give the image a little more context for those who may not be familiar with the game.
Rinkula really uses the color of the blue water to enhance Zora Link’s color. Giving him incredibly bright fins that almost seem reflective under the surface makes him look right at home in the water, and emphasis the green ties Link’s trademark green tunic to the rest of his Zora counterparts design.
