Zelda Fanart Spotlight – Legend of Zelda: Hero of Time
Posted on June 27 2012 by Hachi
Today’s Fanart Spotlight is a digital painting by iliasPatlis called Legend of Zelda: Hero of Time. Although most landscape heavy images have a horizontal plane, the artists opts to use a tall vertical canvas. The choice brilliantly emphases the height of the trees.
On the bottom portion of the picture, Link is walking down a worn stone path, his companion Navi’s glow gently lighting up the area around them. A layer of mint colored mist is settling into the forest, obscuring the view of the most distant tree. It makes the trees we can see look like they are almost glowing. That, in combination with the moss covered surroundings and overgrown vegetation, gives off the impression that Link is walking through an ancient, perhaps even a magical, forest.
At the very top of the picture a beautiful golden ray of sun cuts through the fog, turning the colors of the leaves around it into a vibrant warm hue. In stark contrast, he uses almost a pure black to add branches to the foreground, adding a real sense of depth to the picture.
IliasPatlis has plenty more beautiful Zelda art in his DeviantART gallery which you can find here. Also, don’t forget to tell us what you think about today’s Fanart spotlight in the comments below.
