Zelda Artist Exposition: uniqueLegend

Hello everyone, and welcome to another installment of Zelda Artist Expositions, the editorial series where I shine a well-deserved spotlight on varying Zelda fan artists generally from deviantART. With the goal being to spread art and Zelda love, suggestions for new featured artists are always welcome. Now I know I said I would wait to do pieces over more well known artists, but for this one I couldn’t hold to that promise. I was having a tough time coming up with ways to write about some of the more obscure artists, and the ones I did want to write about haven’t replied to my emails. If their work doesn’t have a “Download Image” button, I feel it is right to ask to use their work. Anyway, this time, a wonderful deviantART user, uniqueLegend, has been featured.

The quite prominent, twenty-two year old artist hales from Australia and has been on deviantART for about five years with her popularity growing fast. Her page has over 200,000 views, and she is only 20 llama badges away from the Fancy Llama badge, which is something pretty impressive only certain, badge-oriented deviants will understand.

Her work is digital and generally dark in tone, but there is always great depth to her work even when it is a simple vanity shot of a character. Her “unique” (no pun intended) style is highly accented by her choice to always use paint textures and airy, dramatic-looking strokes. However, the digital painting is more recent. Her very early work is traditional drawing but is the same style and equally impressive. She is also incredibly diverse. She easily ranges from a painting of a Snow Leopard to a portrait of Ghirahim to an action shot of Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Needless to say she draws much more than just Zelda artwork.

Below are a few of her pieces. I consider these pieces to be some of her best work as well as the pieces of her’s that are circulated the most. The final image below of Link is her newest Zelda piece as of this posting.
