Zelda Artist Exposition: Laovaan

Welcome one and all to Zelda Artist Exposition once again! Firstly, I’d like to thank you all for your supportive comments on the last Exposition post. It was nice to see so much support for Ferisae. Secondly, thanks to some much appreciated and thorough help from commenter and artist, HyliaBeilschmidt, and her Tumblr blog, many new names have been added to my list of artist to feature—nine total. So I would like to personally thank him or her for all the help, both direct and indirect. Among the large crop of additions is my newest favorite artist, and today’s feature, Laovaan.
Laovaan is a student artist and has been on deviantART for about four years. He has 105 deviations and 1650 watchers as of this post. He is incredibly versatile with his mediums in which he dabbles in traditional art, digital art, and cosplay.
Probably my favorite favorite thing about Laovaan is his style of traditional art. It is a style I tried to emulate when I used to draw and one I truly admire. I envy how well he shades and uses color, and his anatomy is anime-grade impeccable. I can not really describe the style, but it is one that always catches my eye. In his digital art, he says he tries to model the pieces after the style of sakimichan, but his digital pieces are also pretty similar to uniqueLegend. On top of these, he is also a great cosplayer. Although he has only done two characters, Link, which you can see below, and Noel Kreiss from Final Fantasy, they are both phenomenal.
His gallery is very diverse in subject matter from Fire Emblem to The Legend of Korra. There are a few boys love—malexmale—pieces in his gallery. If that is not for you, be warned. It should be noted there are only a handful of Zelda-related works in his gallery. Below is my favorite traditional, Zelda work of his.
And this is probably his best Zelda-related digital work. As you can tell, he tends to stick with portraits of Link.
