Windmill Hut – Zelda Music Recreated with A Cappella
Posted on April 10 2013 by Legacy Staff
Hello everybody, and welcome back! Today on Windmill Hut, we have an extremely talented man that goes by the name Smooth McGroove. You may remember a specific post I did a couple weeks ago that featured this guy’s Wind Waker “Over World Theme” video, and due to all the positive comments that post received, I thought I would show you some more of his musical genius available on his YouTube channel. Now just a quick note, even though I’m only featuring his Zelda-related videos, he has plenty of other great video game covers that I fully recommend you check out, such as his Mega Man X “Spark Mandrill” cover, so please go listen to those as well.

Before we start these a cappella masterpieces, here’s a quick note from SmoothMcGroove himself:
“I encourage everyone to watch this video in “original quality” because YouTube messed up the processing of these videos!”
Let’s begin with his “Astral Observatory Theme” cover:
It’s hard to describe with words how much I absolutely loved this recreation. I love almost all of Smooth McGroove’s a cappella videos, but this one is my favorite by far. Maybe it’s just that I love almost all of the songs from Majora’s Mask, but this is the best version of the “Astral Observatory Theme” I’ve heard in a while. Plus with the difficulties of syncing a cappella so it sounds this beautiful and professional, editing each video must be tough, and this bearded a cappella master pulls it off to near perfection.
Up next is his cover of Saria’s Song (“Lost Woods Theme”):
I have heard the “Lost Woods Theme” a lot of times, even to the point where I’ve grown to be a little sick of it, but with hearing this terrific musical remake I have fallen in love with the song all over again. However, the video was a little short, and I found myself thirsty for more musical candy.
I have almost no complaints whatsoever for Smooth McGroove, however I did find it to be extremely disappointing at times when the video was only a minute long. I felt that the overall length of the videos could have been expanded. Also, the tune of each video could get a little repetitive at times, but never to the point where it took away from the musical experience or gave me a headache.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this week’s feature artist. With his stellar video design and his wonderful voice, this guy really has something special. Plus the fact that all parts of the a cappella tunes are sung by him makes it that much better. Like I said, I fully recommend that you go over to his YouTube channel. and check out some of his other Zelda covers. Also, if you enjoyed these tunes, be sure to subscribe to Smooth McGroove, because he really deserves it. So what do you guys think? Did you like the Zelda a cappella remakes? Did you not like the Zelda a cappella remakes? Tell us in the comments below!
